Hi Charlie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t work at the time, and I was bored constantly. My mum shared with me some advice; she told me I should use my platform as an influencer to write a book and share my story with the world. As my Instagram account reaches over 10 million people every thirty days, my book took off so much our current number of sales for my best-selling book, Charlie Baker: Autism and me, currently sits at over 12,150 sales. This is amazing for a 16-year-old to complete. Before I self-published the book via lulu.com I said that I’d donate all of the proceeds from the book to charities helping people with autism.
So far, we have donated over
$257,164 to charities worldwide. I’d love to write more books in the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it’s not been a smooth road. When you’re in the public eye, your every move is watched by millions. It’s very hard making the decision whether to do something or not.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I actually work full-time in England, which is where I reside. I am a glass collector at a bar. That surprises many people. I am mostly known for my books about autism, but I am also known about my many business ventures.
What are your plans for the future?
I’d love to write more books if possible. I have a very busy life, so finding time can be difficult. That being said, this is my passion; I love my job!
