Today, we’d like to introduce you to LaCedric (SilverDolla Beats) Jefferson . LaCedric (SilverDolla Beats) was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented La La Musiq.
Hi LaCedric (SilverDolla Beats), we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
My music journey started in my middle school band. That’s when I discovered my love for music. It was in high school when a desire to learn to write music came about when I enrolled in Music Theory at David W. Carter in Oak Cliff. Once I graduated, I purchased my first keyboard workstation and started making beats for local artist such as Diamond D, Bo-Leg, several artists from DSR Records and that also lead me to work with Houston artists as well. Artist such as Lil Flip, ESG, etc. Before meeting La La Musiq, I had quit doing music for a while because I no longer wanted to continue in the mainstream/secular part of the industry. I had accepted Christ into my life and wanted to do something different and meeting La La helped with that transition.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I’ve worked with countless local DFW rappers and Houston rappers in the past before switching to Truth Music, most notably DSR, Records, Stampede Records, Diamond D of Diamond Records, Bo-Leg, Gator Main, Mr. Pookey, Lil Flip, ESG, Mood Swing out of Chicago. But the records I am most proud of are the ones lately I’ve produced two La La Musiq albums (Set Apart, and The Awakening). Recently, I just produced a song for Phil Waters titled No Blot, Produced Fruits of The Spirit debut album Mighty King with the lead single Mighty King. And a lot more is in the works right now. I just love to get this message out there about redemption and living our lives for Christ and encouraging God’s people to endure and continue in him. My musical influences are from everywhere. I was and am still a big Timberland fan, Dr. Dre, Herbie Hancock. People don’t know but classical music is my first love.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by La La Musiq and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with La La.
So, I met La La at our local church The Israel of God in Dallas. I heard her in the choir and the announcement was made that she also wrote the song so that caught my attention. So, I started handing over choir tracks so that they could further keep making original material. I just loved how La La could hear my tracks and bring to life what I was feeling or thinking when I made my tracks, and I knew I needed to do a project with her. I love working with La La Musiq because she’s basically singing the book(bible). She relies so heavily on the scriptures when creating, which is very important to me. She loves feedback and take constructive criticism well. She listens, which makes it a joy to work with. She’s not a “I know best” type.
