Today we’d like to introduce you to Parth Tripathi.
Hi Parth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Just like any teen in the world, I was scrolling through Tik Tok on my bed when I found two simultaneous videos that were opposite in their viewpoint on the medical field. The first video, often the most viewed and created, showed how medical students lived an amazing, entertaining, almost perfect life. However, the second viewpoint spoke on the mental health conditions that many medical students face at least once throughout their life in the industry. While this video is less circulated to future medical professionals, most my age in high school, it is the more realistic glimpse into the future for these students. That’s when I realized that I had the opportunity to create something for these high schoolers, where I can bring this transparent, realistic information to them, helping them decide if the medical field is really for them. Through my brand, I provide information that may both encourage or discourage people from entering the field–but is true, dependable information that they can rely on. My goal through my brand is to uncover the raw details of healthcare, both in the required education and the field itself, through an informative podcast, on which I bring current students, residents, and healthcare workers, and a blog, which will bring specific topics to light with the use of data and research, to assist high school students and undergraduates in discovering what it truly takes to become a medical professional. As a result, my brand provides a cumulative view into a field that is not as transparent as others and shows a true account of the journey. It can help students in our local community decide if the industry is right for them or not.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While it has not been a very difficult process due to the overwhelming support of my brand, there have been many challenges along the way. Firstly, it was initially difficult to bring people onto the podcast as guests, as there was no credibility to my brand. Over time, however, more people tuned in, and more guests were willing to join. Another challenge that I initially faced was finding a niche for my brand. Choosing a topic that I was passionate about and had an audience was challenging. Through research, I had to find my niche and understand its market demand. Lastly, finding and sticking to a set schedule was difficult to decide, especially with other commitments and school. Eventually, I decided on publishing one blog post on the 15th of every month and one podcast episode on the 30th of every month.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
My goal through my brand is to uncover the raw details of healthcare, both in the required education and the field itself, through an informative podcast, on which I bring current students, residents, and healthcare workers, and a blog, which will bring specific topics to light with the use of data and research, to assist high school students and undergraduates in discovering what it truly takes to become a medical professional. My aim is to provide a cumulative view into a field that is not as transparent as other fields and show a true account of the journey. What sets me apart is the raw experiences that I bring to listeners and the dependable professionals I bring to explain specific topics. Furthermore, I ensure to explore every topic to its depth, asking questions that cover broad concepts such as residency, dual degrees, and applications to medical school.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that controlled risks are always worth to take. If the risk is planned out and justified, it is fruitful to take the jump and see where you land, as when you “shoot for the moon, you land among the stars.” One major risk that I have taken until now is the decision to not monetize my podcast. I decided that it would be worth it to only focus on increasing the number of listeners and removing anything that can prevent that, including monetization.
