Hi Tania, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I read a quote once that affected me tremendously, as I’ve always had the desire to be an entrepreneur. “If you think the price of winning is too high, prepare yourself for the bill from regret.” Since I was young, I’d turn my room into many things: a shopping store, a gym, and even a little bookstore. I loved the feeling of having my sisters come in and look around, peruse the stuff I had, and “buy” it with Monopoly money. 

Now I’m 31, and I have several small businesses, and it wasn’t easy. I shut down and started over many times. I even had a podcast where I had my friends on, and it was fun. I wanted to be able to paint more, and that was on of my goals, to being financially free. Yet, it ended up being more where I wanted to be able to go wherever I wanted, meet and learn from new people and achieve my goals of being able to have more free time to enjoy my life the way I feel I deserved. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I learned about sales and use taxes, IRS restrictions, patience, and how to source products. Read a lot of books, and it took what felt like an eternity. I’m grateful that I started when I did. I look back and am glad that I didn’t give up or stopped because something was too hard. 

Being an entrepreneur is rarely a smooth road. It is a journey filled with challenges, obstacles, and setbacks. While the end goal may be fulfilling and rewarding, the path to success is often paved with struggles. Here are some common struggles entrepreneurs such as myself have to face along the way:

Despite these struggles, entrepreneurs find the strength to persevere. They learn from failures, adapt to change, and remain resilient. The satisfaction of seeing their vision come to life, making a positive impact, and achieving success kept me on my entrepreneurial journey.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
YES. I’ve lost hundreds and thousands of dollars before on products that didn’t sell, marketing campaigns that didn’t work, and services that weren’t completed. It was a lot of stress and a lot of pain but never gave up on myself and my businesses. I took risks as well shutting down some relationships and businesses I started up as they didn’t serve me any longer. I felt like a failure to a degree because I thought I “wasted” my time, and in reality, it was just another lesson. 

It’s worth noting that risk-taking should be approached with a balanced perspective. While taking calculated risks can lead to growth and achievement, it’s essential to consider potential downsides and take steps to mitigate them. Risk management strategies, such as thorough research, contingency plans, and seeking expert advice, can help minimize negative outcomes and increase the chances of success.
