Rising Stars: Meet Leah Clark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Clark. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Leah Clark

Leah and Alex Clark got married on 3.14.15, a day also known as Pi Day. Some stories just write themselves.

Leah always dreamed of opening her own bakery. Leah spent several years managing bakery franchises and realized the joy in serving Guests, Staff, and the Community.

She wanted to open a bakery that serves pies and treats so tasty that they add a smile to any situation. They wanted a bakery that helps Guests celebrate holidays, birthdays, promotions, report cards, and random Tuesdays. They wanted a bakery that revolves around the values most important to her: friendliness, authenticity, community, and fun.

When the opportunity to open that bakery presented itself in 2020, Leah was on it. They launched Batch, and they now get to celebrate March 14 on a whole other level.

Leah and her husband, Alex live in Frisco and  Leah manages the store. They’ve been married since 2015. When they’re not at the store, they’re spending time with their daughter and dog Hula.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening during covid brought several challenges with limiting people in the store or even letting people know we were open since no one was really out and about then. The main struggle has been the cost of goods. Most people notice the rising cost at the grocery stores and restaurants have been hit hard with the rising cost of ingredients. Raising prices might lose some guests, which has been difficult.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I own batch bakery, and now that I don’t have to do all the baking daily thanks to my amazing team, I focus on marketing. I drop off products at local businesses and go to events. We’re known for our key lime pie! That’s our top flavor year-round. And a newer product that’s on the rise are our cake batter cookie sandwiches. What sets us apart is we truly value great customer service. Since I’ve worked in the service industry my whole life, I know how important it is to make guests feel special and welcome from the moment they walk in the door. We also bake fresh daily to ensure the guests get the best products!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am bilingual, I am half Mexican, and I try to bring a little of that Mexican flare to some of the flavors we offer.
