Hi Heidy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story begins in 2017, after I had my first child. I was in process of getting a teaching degree and working in local preschools. After I had my son, I started to realize that teaching was not for me. Then, the pandemic of 2020 happened, and everything went on hold. I decided that it was the right time to switch my career to marketing. I was scared about switching careers and the new challenges I might face along the way. Fast forward a few months, and I noticed a local business was looking for a social media marketer. I doubted whether I could actually help this business since I had just started my journey in the marketing world. With encouragement from my husband, I decided to apply for this position and was HIRED!! I couldn’t believe that I was able to secure my first social media client. After three months, my client was able to reach millions of people on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. They were also featured on different magazines. After realizing that I had a gift for marketing small business, I started to take on more clients, and that’s how From Bland To Grand was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, being an entrepreneur and owning a business is not easy. I started my business without financial support from anyone and had to work hard to make sure I could buy all the equipment I needed to run my business. It is also very time-consuming to run a business when you first start. You as a business owner, wear many different hats to ensure that your business succeeds and is able to be profitable.
