Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitzi Martinez.
Hi Mitzi, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Has your soul ever been tired of doing the same thing just a different day? Is it in the need of something new? Maybe some adventures? Maybe start a new project? Or just a new beginning? That’s exactly how I was feeling months before starting my journey of entrepreneur.. As I share some of my life experiences in my previous interview, I always had a thing for makeup since I was 5 years old. As I got older, I decided to take the wrong path. Became a mom at 15 years old, was in a mentally & physically abusive relationship for 6 years & hung around with the wrong crowd. I graduated from makeup school back in 2018, but I still wasn’t doing anything with my certificated or my life. As time passed by, things just got worst for me to the point that I had to get 3 jobs and got in 2 bad car accidents after that, I felt the urge of starting something new; my soul was asking me for a new life, for a new beginning. That’s when I decided to get a personal trainer. I was working out twice a day, eating healthy, waking up at 4:30 a.m. by 5 a.m., already at the gym, deactivated social media for 6 months & let go of people who no longer served a purpose in my life. As my healthy journey began, I got introduce to body sculpting. OMG! Best thing ever! I notice that I had instant results: lost 1 1/2 inch of that subcutaneous fat instantly! It made such a big impact in my life in such a positive matter that I decided to get certified & change people’s lives just like my body sculpting specialist changed mine… As my journey continued, I felt the urge of following my passion & I did. I always had a vision of having my own shop, my own beauty place. I decided to get a shop. Saved up and invested my savings into my shop. Did I know what I was getting myself into? Nope, Not at all! It was a challenging time building my shop; I learned how to paint walls on my own & even learned some man work as well. I opened up on July 14, 2022. Literally jumped into the unknown and started from scratched even on obtaining customers as well. I decided to join Arlington Chambers of commerce, and boy did my life changed joining them! It was one of the best decisions I could’ve ever made! So many wonderful, motivated, positive bosses I came around that’s when I realized why so many doors in my past had close because new ones and great ones opened up. I started making connections getting clients through social media, google & word of mouth. Not only that MJ Magic was going great, but so was my life. I finally received the new beginning my soul was asking for. I started traveling and even model for fashion shows and photographers. I got invited to be Sari Sari festival as an MUA, which consisted of 13 models makeup I had to do. “13 models!?” I know right & back to back! But that’s not even the cool part after I finished doing the models’ makeup, I jumped right on stage! had my own dressed that a designer from Hawaii designed for me. Did I know what I was doing? Of course not lol, but thanks to that day, I did more runways, modeling, and podcast for different creators & became a mentor for a nonprofit organization. Once 2023 was here, business was still going great; I started training/certifying girls for body sculpting, speaking on events about how to become the best version of yourself, still doing modeling & even joined a pageant I became Ms. North Texas International 2023. I believe that things happen for a reason from July 2022 – Feb 2023, I created confidence, resilience, self-love, learned how to express myself better than I did last year, built connections, and learned how to not give up! Things got challenging by the end of July 2023; business had slowed down & depression hit. ” I feel like I need to go harder ‘ I kept telling myself (not being grateful for everything I had already achieved & not knowing a lot of beauty business where struggling with similar situations as I was). I had someone important to me telling me, “How can god / the universe give you more when you are been ungrateful for everything you once prayed for ‘ Wow… those word really got to me. I started realizing I achieved most of my goals in such a short time which means it’s time for new goals! MJ Magic shop is now offering not only body sculpting & glam services but also Ice Sculpting, lipo shots, body sculpting training & a space to throw events ! from baby showers small birthday parties to networking events or even spa parties! Remember, every step counts; take it one day at a time. Rome was not built in a day, and neither are your dreams. Just don’t give up & sooner or later, you will see amazing results! Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road at all. My biggest struggle is trying to invest time on my business while having kids. There’s times that I wouldn’t spent time with my kids because I want to grow my business, just like there’s times when I don’t spend time on my business because I want to spend it with my kids.
