Check Out Room 13’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Room 13. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Jey Teibowei

Room 13 got started in early 2023, formed by singer/songwriter Jey Teibowei after the previous band he was in the Ozwalds fell apart he still had some songs left over he had written for the band which would result in Room 13’s debut EP the Filth & the Fury. After he had written some more songs and played acoustic solo gig’s he decided to form another band with the sole goals of being better than the Ozwalds & becoming one of the best young bands in DFW, which would then to become Room 13. Even after quite a few liveshows & lineup changes the current lineup of Jey on Vocals, Ty on Guitar, Jaxson on Bass, & CJ on drums (temporarily) they’re better than ever booking more shows & even writing a debut Album, Denton’s Filthiest & Furious cannot be stopped they’re an example that loud guitar music is not dead & that it’s in good hands.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an easy road for the band as mentioned before; the band has had to go through multiple lineup changes since its inception, Room 13 even had to cancel multiple shows at one point due to lineups dissolving due to a few unfortunate circumstances. But now the band is better than ever looking to play & rock out bigger & better shows.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a young rock band dedicated to showing that rock n’ roll isn’t dead. Its domination is just beginning. We specialize in giving a great rock n’ roll show to all ages & to all walks of life with the songs we play. What sets us apart from other bands is that we’re not just inspired by legends such as Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Ramones, Iggy Pop & the stooges, Velvet Underground but also very heavily inspired by modern independent rock bands such as the False Heads, James & the Cold Gun, & Violet Soda they take old school punk and alternative rock and mix with the influences of quality modern rock bands to get a loud, melodic, aggressive sound that few bands can replicate live & in the studio. Another thing that sets the band apart is its drive and love to play shows. They are the kind of band that takes risks and give everything they have into liveshows they’re a band determined to rock the country, even if it’s just one venue at a time.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
We use streaming platforms to release our music, such as our debut EP so that are fans can always listen to our music and enjoy it anywhere. We also use social media platforms such as Instagram & TikTok to connect with our fans all over so that they don’t just support us but support the whole Denton music scene we play in. We even have various podcasts & radio stations play our EP in support of us as well. A favorite of ours is the Austin Young show podcast, which supports the local music scene and even plays our tracks on his podcast.
