Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Vega.
Hi Valerie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our photo booth business began back in March 2021 after we celebrated my niece’s quinceañera. My sister, Carolina, hired a photo booth company without knowing what the prices were supposed to be like, and well, photo booths were barely trending, so she went ahead and booked it. After the quinceañera passed by, my sister realized that the templates weren’t very neat, and she got what she paid for (she paid a very affordable amount for what she received- which were not-so-nice templates). As time passed by, we both also realized we wanted to leave our 9-5 jobs so that we can work for ourselves and be able to travel more and well; what a better way to put her creativity to work as well. We all travel as a family, and we would always hate having to ask our bosses for days off to be able to travel. Me my sister Carolina, and my niece Destiny, age 15 during that time, all decided to invest our money and start a photo booth business which is now Magnificent Photo Booth, family-owned and DFW-based. We decided to take that leap of faith and started off with one photo booth. As soon as we received our booth, we paid for mentorship so we could learn how to set it up and how to run the software. Shortly, once we knew how the system was ran, the ins and outs of it, and after realizing our business started getting booked up sooner than expected, we were able to go back and invest in another booth because of how many bookings we started getting.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been smooth. However, before we started our business, we were a bit scared just because we were afraid of covid and thought, what if another pandemic would hit? What if we don’t get booked up? But that wasn’t the case. We quickly realized that the partying never stopped no matter what level covid was. We began booking up as soon as we got our booth and have not stopped ever since. There’s weekends where we get booked up back-to-back and have to bring our parents along to help run the booth.
We’ve been impressed with Magnificent Photo Booth, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We proudly offer Photo Booth rental services, neon sign rentals, and flower wall rentals.
When booking our rentals, our clients can expect great customer service! We love to capture their beautiful and magnificent memories! Not only do they get great customer service, but when you look at our templates, you can see that we take time and dedication on each and one of them. We like for our templates and pictures to be aligned, which is what I was referring to when my sister paid for what she received. My niece’s Photo Booth templates for her quinceañera were so bad now that we look back at them. The pictures weren’t even aligned; the fonts were off…they were horrible!
I feel like what sets us apart is the great customer service we provide. We always receive compliments about how great we are with communication and how great and unique our templates are! We make sure to follow up with our customers and ask for approval before finalizing their templates because they are paying for it, and they deserve to put in their feedback as well.
Any big plans?
Now that we started our entrepreneurial journey with our photo booth business, we plan on getting another booth that will be digital only, hoping we can drop that one off while we put our other booths to use at the same time. Magnificent Photo Booth is blooming, and we will be opening up our salon in Oak Cliff. The new salon will offer luxe facial services, nail services, brow services, PMU services, and lash services. However, just because we are expanding our entrepreneurial journey, that doesn’t mean Magnificent Photo Booth will take a break. My niece and parents will be around to help with bookings! We want to take this time to thank our clients that have kept us busy and booked; without them, we would not be here!
