Exploring Life & Business with Raja Mohan of Raja Mohan MD PA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raja Mohan.

Raja Mohan

Hi Raja, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young boy, I became interested in medicine through my father who had a medical practice for 40 years in a small town in California. About 20 years ago, I happened to meet a plastic surgeon in Boston while I was an undergraduate at MIT and became fascinated with the field because it was the perfect blend of art and science. Since that experience, I knew plastic surgery was my calling and field of interest. I completed medical school at the University of Miami, where I graduated at the top of the class, and also trained in plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, which consistently ranks as one of the top research hospitals in the United States. Lastly, I performed an aesthetic fellowship in Dallas under famous surgeons who specialize in aesthetic surgery of the face, breast, and body. Through these experiences, I was fortunate to work with the greatest thinkers and innovators in plastic surgery and began my own practice in DFW about five years ago. I am now moving to a new location in North Dallas. We have grown to where we will have a med spa and office-based surgery center under one roof. Our secret to success is providing the best possible care and results for all of our patients.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I began a solo practice five years ago. Being an entrepreneur and literally starting from scratch is not easy and will of course, come with its own ups and downs. However, it has been great to see change and growth over the last five years, and I am excited about what the future holds. Plastic surgery is a very rewarding career, and I enjoy the challenges of running a business. One of the biggest hurdles was the pandemic since that period completely transformed the way healthcare is being delivered. It was a great learning opportunity, and luckily, my practice survived and has grown since 2020.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a board-certified plastic surgeon with extra training in aesthetic surgery, my plastic surgery practice is designed to be a comprehensive practice that focuses solely on aesthetic surgery of the breast, body, and face. For breast surgery, we focus on breast augmentation, breast lifts (mastopexy), breast reduction, and any type of implant surgery. For body surgery, we focus on liposuction, tummy tucks, and fat transfer. For facial surgery, we focus on rhinoplasty, facelifts, and anti-aging treamtents. Our goal is to offer the highest level of care and outcomes for our patients. We also offer med-spa procedures to restore healthy skin and a more youthful appearance. Our treatments and services include injectables, chemical peels, microneedling, and PRP treatments. We plan to open a fully accredited operating room suite in our office to make it more convenient for our patients to obtain our services. Our plastic surgery practice is also an active participant in community charities such as DIFFA and Cattle Baron’s Ball.

How do you think about luck?
My dad always used to tell me an ounce of luck is better than a pound of wisdom. And I also believe that luck favors the prepared. Throughout my career, I have always felt working hard staying focused, and trying to make some progress (no matter how big or small) every day is the key to success. Maintaining a positive outlook and progressing every day allows one to achieve success and get “luckier” when practicing as a plastic surgeon. I have been very lucky and fortunate to have been given the opportunity to learn and train at the universities and institutions where my degrees are from. I met many amazing mentors and colleagues who helped shaped the way I approach my craft. I am indebted to all of the people who have taught me and all the places where I have learned because they have helped me get to where I am today.
