Rising Stars: Meet Blurry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blurry.

Blurry

Blurry, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Music has been in my life for a long time. I started playing guitar at seven years old but didn’t take it seriously until I was already in college. Halfway through school, I dropped out to start a band. Which sounds crazy, but I am glad that I did. Now, I’ve been performing for six years, and I’ve learned a lot about the music business, what it means to be a good performer and music production.

I know there is much more for me to learn in the future, and I plan to walk this path as long as possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This road has had many twists and turns. A big struggle of mine is stage fright. In the beginning of my career, I would get so nervous that I’d forget how to breathe and would almost pass out. At the same time, though, I’ve always seen a performer within myself. The nerves get easier to manage with experience, and I have trained my body to turn anxiety into excitement, which allows me to bring energy and raw emotion to the stage.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the lead singer in a band, which requires wearing many hats including: performer, music producer, songwriter, band manager, band leader, social media/ marketing specialist, and content creator. I would say I am most known as a performer because that is how I market myself, and that is typically what people see.

I am most proud of my songwriting. I just released my first song, “Lonely Illusion,” on all platforms, and I have many more new songs to release in the future.

I don’t know what sets me apart from others. I’d like to think that we are all one.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Dallas is a melting pot. There are so many different people with unique interests, and that is why I like it. Different ideas are very inspiring to me, and it helps me to create. My least favorite thing is the driving. I feel like people are very rushed, which can create dangerous situations. My advice… People, take your time; it is totally okay to arrive late.
