Today we’d like to introduce you to Naviyd.
Hi Naviyd, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Gene, also known as Naviyd; I am a Model, Brand Ambassador, and Content creator. It all began when I moved to the big city of Dallas, Texas about 6 years ago. I was working at a job in retail while attaining my degree as a healthcare professional. This led to me being scouted and signing to two local talent agencies. During that time, I have walked in various local shows, also working with other creatives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While on this journey, it can be challenging, demanding, and competitive. It’s not always easy finding the right agency for representation, staying confident while being faced with the idea of perfection, eating proper nutrition, and maintaining your physique. I felt like I had to remind myself, ” Never allow yourself to get lost in someone else’s vision.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As mentioned before, I am a Model, Brand Ambassador, and content creator. Aside from that, I am a Healthcare Professional who enjoys helping others. Anything ranging from, but not limited to, Print, Commercial and social media, etc. Being in control of my own creativity, which has led to my authenticity, is what sets me apart from others.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When networking, be selective with whom you exchange your information with. It’s not about what you know; it’s who you know. Find someone who makes you feel comfortable and trustworthy as a Mentor who aligns with you as an individual and can focus primarily on you. It’s always harder having a mentor who has a full roster of talents. This can lead to you not getting the proper mentorship needed for you to grow and thrive.
