Today we’d like to introduce you to Kandy Robertson.
Hi Kandy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My parents were refugees and survived a genocide. My childhood was rough and not typical of many other children. I was the only one who spoke English and bared many responsibilities. When I graduated high school, I went to college for Art. When I became pregnant with my first child at 20 and went to nursing school soon after so I can have a stable career for my children. I also knew I didn’t want to be nurse forever. So, I started trying new things, building new skills so I can one day have my own business. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as a model, actor, Human rights event coordinator, podcaster, and many businesses, including e-commerce, fashion sales, and digital marketing. I even executively produced my own reality show Kocktales & Kandy. This helped pave my way towards my dream. The skills I’ve obtained have given me the experience to start my own social media marketing agency! Since 3 years ago, I am able to work from home and help others achieve their dreams. I’ve won 6 national and international awards and amassed 400,000 followers across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The past decade and start-up was not easy; for a while, I thought I’d never make it out. Personal obstacles that were in the way and kept trying to stop me from chasing my dreams. Many people in my life doubted me, tried to stop me, and didn’t believe in me. Many told me to give up and quit trying. But I never did; what I learned was to not tell people my goals and dreams, and then my life excelled at a faster pace.
We’ve been impressed with iKandyland, INC., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help business owners go viral using short-form videos on social media without the use of paid ads.
I’m an expert on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
I am able to teach clients in any industry how to leverage social media for their business.
I keep up with the trends when it comes to marketing.
