Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Trained at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., I made my way down to Dallas to practice as a foot and ankle surgeon. Throughout the years of practicing within a health insurance-based practice, I saw that medical care continues to see more restrictions imposed by these insurance companies. The result of this is skyrocketing health care costs, and the level of care patients receive has deteriorated dramatically.
I refuse to stand back and allow patients to receive sub-par health care. For this exact reason, I have started my own concierge medical practice, Dallas Direct Podiatry, where we focus on sports podiatry and dermatologic conditions of the foot and ankle. We have opted out of insurance to give our patients the freedom to get the care that they deserve. Every patient now receives one-hour consultations to get to the root of their problems. We focus on tailoring treatment plans that work for the patient and their lifestyle. The result is the best foot and ankle care the patient has ever received.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think starting any business is ever smooth. As an entrepreneur, especially one who is doing something different, you must be flexible and be ready to pivot when necessary. Our biggest struggle has been educating the public on the importance of investing in their health and focusing on treating the root cause as opposed to just the symptoms. At our practice, we always focus on solving the problem rather than prescribing a pill that might be a temporary fix.
We’ve been impressed with Dallas Direct Podiatry, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a concierge medical practice focusing on sports podiatry and dermatologic conditions of the foot and ankle. Our primary goal is to offer treatments that treat the root cause rather than masking the symptoms. What sets us apart even further is that we offer much more time with the doctor (1-hour consultations), after-hours access to the doctor via text, zero wait times, and no surprise medical bills. We offer innovative treatments such as laser nail therapy for fungal infections and shockwave therapy for heel pain and other painful conditions of the foot.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My wife is by far my biggest supporter. When starting a business, it often requires sacrifice by both you and your spouse. Having someone supporting you in the corner always helps get you though the tough times.
