Daily Inspiration: Meet Mecca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mecca.

Mecca

Hi Mecca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was just a young artist who aspired to make a name for themselves coming from somewhere where a lot of people don’t make it… Mississippi. Music has been my passion since I was young. The process of creating music that people can nod their heads and relate to (from the beat selection to catching the vibe and getting a flow to hearing it all come to life in the end) is an experience I’ve always enjoyed. I never wanted to be good; I wanted to be the greatest. My influences came from Lil Wayne, Drake, Tory Lanez, and a few others. Seeing them create their art, listening to their wordplay, how they rode a beat, or how they said a word different to make it fit; I wanted to learn as much as I could from the ones, I wanted to have my name next to.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in life worth having is easy and if you wanna be great at something that’s definitely not gonna come easy. The hardest thing for me was getting a team that could execute my visions how I see fit. Everything from logos to cover art, to visuals, to the people I let hear my music before it released. Every piece was vital to me, creating the reality I saw in my head.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a music artist, event host, MC, promoter. For whatever reason, I prefer to refer to myself as an artist vs just saying I’m a “rapper” because I didn’t wanna box myself into just rapping. I like to sing (or attempt to sing), harmonize, hell even hum. I like to add layers in my music where I see fit. I do a lot more than just… rapping. Whatever I do or I put my name on, I like to add my own style or flare to. And I’m going to give it 100%. A million people can do this, but no one can ever do it like me. That’s my Superpower.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Determination, perseverance, consistency, dedication, and knowing how to accept criticism.
