Meet Kisha L. Allen of Beyond Motivation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kisha L. Allen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kisha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I like to keep things simple. I have a heart for people. I love seeing them win and life fruitful lives. I am a big networker, so I meet tons of people. Over the years, I realized that everyone wanted to be or do MORE, but many struggled with how; because I am a Corporate Trainer by Trade and a Teacher by gifting, I had this nagging desire to teach them what they wanted and/or needed to learn I fully understood and connected with their desire for more and I wanted to help in any way I could. I came from poverty and I never had a mentor, so in a sense, I wanted to mentor and serve as many people as possible.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been a bumpy road with huge learning curves in it and I’m still learning. No one in my family has owned a successful business. Honestly, I use to always say that I never wanted to own my own business, but as I climbed the corporate ladder, I realized that I was an entrepreneur at heart. After a while, I simply got sick of corporate America and decided to take a leap of faith.

As I look back, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to own my own business, I honestly didn’t think I was capable because growing up all I saw were people that worked nine to fives. I’ve faced a number of struggles along the way, everything from not having enough money to needing more help and not being able to afford it. A big struggle that I encountered was my mindset and having a limited understanding of what was required before going into business. I was not prepared or equipped to run a business when I first started.

At this time I am actually rebranding my business as a result of knowing more and having greater clarity of direction. In addition to this, when I first started my business, I took on too much at once, oftentimes taking on projects way outside the scope of my business because it paid well. I lacked focus and vision, so I was all over the place.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Beyond Motivation – what should we know?
Beyond Motivation is a training company that specializes in professional, personal and spiritual development programs that are rooted in biblical principles. At the core of our training programs, you will find love, honor, and reverence for God, people, life and everything in it. We take people and companies back to the basics and show them how a simple shift in their culture, understanding, and perspective can shift their organization, relationships, and lives. Our programs are specifically designed with purpose-driven people, professionals, and organizations in mind.

Through my company Beyond Motivation, I train teams and speak at various different events and conferences. I’ve spoken at business events, churches, colleges, women’s events, expos, etc. I also emcee events. I am known for being a transparent, super passionate, bold, energetic woman of excellence with a huge smile that lights up the room.

I am known for the power and authority in my voice. I am known for challenging people’s perspective and what they know to be true based on their limited understanding, perspective or things they’ve heard or picked-up along the way. I always speak the truth and seek to disrupt all dysfunction that causes people to be stagnant or stuck. I stir people and ignite change. I am a doer, I don’t waste time, so I always equip people to act.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have never had an official mentor, but have learned from many. I study the greats and am well read. I’ve hired coaches in the past, but those that were within my budget didn’t offer any real value, so I’ve learned a lot from trial and error.

However, I have had one consistent supporter, my daughter, Shae Allen. She is always there in whatever capacity I need her. She has been a cheerleader, a camerawoman, critic, a registrar, volunteer recruiter, and administrator. I can’t name every role she’s played, but she sees a gap and fills it. In addition to her, every person that has bought a book hired me to train and attended an event.
