Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Williams. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Charles L. Williams is the founder of Tax2Go, LLC – a DeSoto, TX-based business specializing in Income tax preparation, Bookkeeping, and IRS representation. As a tax professional, Charles has helped individuals, families, businesses, and non-profit organizations navigate the complex US Tax Code. His years of experience and ongoing tax education enable him to solve the most complex tax issues and disputes.
In 2001, Charles worked for H&R Block part-time where he learned to prepare tax returns via paper and pencil.
Prior to starting his own tax company, Charles was a Manager with the United States Postal Service, where he served for over 37 years.
After retiring from the US Postal Service in 2010, Mr. Williams’ tax business started to take off which grew into a full-service tax preparation company.
Charles went from preparing taxes in his home to storefronts to owning his own building debt-free. He loves to pour his knowledge into others to see them succeed and prosper.
In 2016, Charles also started his nonprofit, the Entrepreneurs Scholarship Program. God placed a vision in Mr. Williams’s heart to use proceeds from Tax2Go LLC and to invite other entrepreneurs to join him in providing scholarships to deserving underprivilege high school students wanting to go to college and current college students to assist them in achieving potential life goals that might otherwise be unobtainable without financial assistance.
Charles is a Registered Tax Return Preparer with the IRS. He is a member of the National Association of Tax Preparers, Tax Professionals.com and has a BBB A plus accredited rating. He serves as treasurer for the DeSoto Area Chamber and is the former treasurer for the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce. Charles is also 2022 Leadership Southwest (LSW) Graduate and currently is a Board Member for LSW.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting your own business can be challenging, especially when you are trying to serve the public. Mr. Williams’ concept was never to use his earning from the tax business to support his own personal household, but it was to be used to be a blessing to others and serve the public. With that being said, God laid it on Mr. Williams’ heart to start the Entrepreneurs Scholarship Program to bless students that wanted to attend college but struggle financially with the means to pay for college.
For the first few years, Mr. Williams supported the scholarships 100 percent. But after he started to get more involved in the community, building relationships with businesses and developing lasting friendships, others wanted to support us as well.
To this day, we are truly blessed to have over 20 plus sponsors, as well as more who want to support us this upcoming year.
