Today we’d like to introduce you to Eduardo Cardoso. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Eduardo Jesus Cardoso is a spirited Latino actor born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He grew up with a passion for athletics and was involved in cheer and wrestling during his scholastic career.
Eduardo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve 2 combat deployments with 3rd Battalion 7th Marines.
He began working in national commercials and print ads then made the big move to Los Angeles.
Eduardo is an American Veteran, Entrepreneur, Actor, Motivational Speaker, and Martial Artist.
Eduardo gives all the credit to God and his faith for his past and future successes.
In 2019, I decided to move back home to Dallas, TX, after living in Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve rooted myself in the film & television network Texas has to offer and have continued to work as a full-time actor, while getting to be near to my beloved family.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not.
Growing up in Oak Cliff, I was a pretty shy kid and kind of…”dreamy.”… all I wanted to do was read books, draw, watch movies, and watch Bob Ross.
All the kids around me seemed to really love sports, and I just felt different, for a long time. Entering High school, I REALLY wanted to do drama/theater, but I was afraid to be different, so I stuck with sports/wrestling.
When I got out of the Marines I was working as a personal trainer in California… I worked so much, and I was making really good money, but there was something missing. I did enjoy helping others reach their goals, however I didn’t LOVE it.
I felt kind of empty. I had spent 4 years being in the Marines, being a part of the world’s greatest fighting organization, and I felt as if I had no purpose. Transitioning from active military, with 2 combat deployments, back into the civilian worlds is TOUGH. Seriously… it’s tough… anyone that tells you it isn’t is lying. Or just so lucky.
Out of nowhere
I got the crazy idea to reach out to some photographers, and that’s when I met Tom Cullis. He emailed me back and asked me to call him, so I did. I was thinking he was gonna charge me a million bucks to help me build an acting portfolio, but we ended up becoming really good friends, and he did it for free. He also introduced me to my first big-time Hollywood agent, Nick T, who owned one of the top 10 acting and modeling agencies in LA, California.
And that’s kind of when things started to turn around.
Then came all the feedback, right?
No one believed in me. And it took it hard. I thought people would support this dream, and you would think I was used to this negative criticism because the same thing happened when I told everyone I wanted to join the Marines.
They called me crazy, that it was a bad idea, that it couldn’t be done
But here we are.
Living the dream, one day at a time
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would say I specialize in acting.
This whole thing started off because I wanted to be an actor.
I had to earn this tho.
It started with modeling, commercial modeling, commercial acting, and LOTS AND LOTS of acting classes.
I’m STILL in acting class. People think actors simply get on screen cus they’re attractive, but there is SO MUCH more to it.
I respect this craft, and some of the best actors I’ve gotten the opportunity to meet are some of the smartest most talented, and hardest-working individuals I have ever met in my entire life.
As far as my acting “method” or “technique” goes, I study my scripts, I study my scenes, I get feedback from my trusted friends and girlfriend, and try my best to create something that’s truly means something. Something that’s gonna reach that one person and make them feel like they aren’t alone, give someone some hope, or maybe just make someone chuckle and make their day a little better.
That’s what movies and tv shows are for me, they’re a gift.
What sets me apart is I try my best to be of service on every set I’m on. It’s not all about me; I’m simply there to serve the story, and when I’m not in front of the camera, you can find me staying out of people’s way, being positive, being grateful, and making genuine human life long-lasting friendships. I love people. I love my job. I love my life. I love every second of being on and off set cus this is my dream career and life.
I’d say I’m most proud of everything. I’m grateful for every company that’s hired me. and for every audition I’ve gotten. of course, Trenton Judson for hiring me for my first feature film Bad B*tch. I see all these as a dream come true, seriously even auditions make me happy. I literally celebrate EVERYHTING!!! you can always find me having some post-audition celebratory froyo 🙂
What do you think about happiness?
This one’s easy.
The list actually goes on and on, but that summs it up 🙂
