Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Gandy. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Singer, Songwriter, Producer, and Musician Trey Gandy
Has been on assignment from God to create gospel music that will inspire and truly bless you. Trey Gandy was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, where he began singing at the age of 4, performing solos in the family choir. In 1989, his family moved to Detroit, Michigan headed for Motown in hopes that Trey would be discovered. His mother carefully sought out numerous talent shows such as Apollo Live of Michigan. After several auditions, Trey was chosen to perform on the first show. He sang “Tomorrow,” written by Quincy Jones, for Tevin Campbell and won first place. He also competed in a second show and won first place in that as well. A few months later, Trey Gandy received a call from Len Horan offering to be his manager. He was soon performing at events and shows and auditioning for movies like “Sister Act” while gaining great exposure and experience. While still in high school, Trey Gandy was the lead singer for Catherine C. Blackwell’s All-Round Rocking Gospel Choir. With his superb vocal talent and musical gifts, he was discovered by the choir’s husband and wife director team, Joseph and Patricia Hines, which gained him additional exposure. One special day, Trey Gandy received an invitation from McDonald’s Corporation to audition for a commercial shoot. He sang an original titled “Dream Girl.” The Judges loved it, and he won the audition. The commercial aired on the radio and TV throughout the state of Michigan.
Soon thereafter, Trey Gandy was met with various record labels and chose to sign with AEM Records. He recorded his first single shortly after signing, entitled “Crazy Bout You Love,” is a pop/alternative song produced and written by (EJ) Emmanuel Johnson from the legendary group Enchantment. Paul “PDA” Allen of PaJam engineered a few of Trey Gandy’s recording sessions at Van Guard Studios. He also recorded the song entitled “Got A Little Dog In Me” featuring George Clinton from the ParliamentFunkadelic. In 1994, Trey Gandy was honored at a city Council program where he received a key to the city award for “Best Local Artist of 93-94”. He has sung the National Anthem at seven NBA games with the Detroit Pistons and Participated in the “Shape Up Michigan” 5 city tour performing and promoting his new single “Crazy ‘Bout Your Love”. The tour, sponsored by Isaiah Thomas (former Detroit Piston), also opened doors for him to perform with artists like Stevie Wonder. Trey Gandy attended the School of the Fine Performing Arts and was a 1st tenor vocal major. A few of his classmates were Aaliyah, Mercedes, and Shundra (Delicious) with each establishing outstanding musical Careers. Currently, Trey Gandy lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area where he is co-owner of Your Destiny Music Group”, an Indie Label. He is working on several projects, producing and vocal developing new upcoming artists such as J. Morgan, Destini Gandy, and more. Trey Gandy released his Gospel CD entitled “Restoration”… (Chapter1) July 2009 along with his well-known single “I’m knocking on Heavens Doors.” Trey took a break from recording and focusing on his spiritual relationship with God, but he still accepted bookings from churches around the globe. In 2021, he released a song dedicated to the world, encouraging everyone to “Get to know God.” After that song, he teamed up with Darnell Williams of the William Singers, and they collaborated on a song called Lay Down Your Burdens wrote and produced by Trey Gandy. Trey released 3 more powerful singles, which all are doing well & at the same time, are available on all digital music platforms. Trey’s latest music project is writing and producing for his 16-year-old daughter Destini Gandy, which will be released late summer of 2023
He is also musically assisting other well-known churches and artists in the DFW metropolitan area. Trey Gandy continues to write for artists while serving the Lord and traveling the world singing about the goodness of Jesus Christ In hopes of winning souls to Christ

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Truthfully and wholeheartedly, no, it hasn’t, lol, but I’ve learned that even sometimes, having to be down in the valley, God Is still God, and that means he will still keep you, and he will still bless you and bring you back up! I may have had to cry sometimes, but one thing I truly learned was that Joy does come in the morning. You may have to wait on him sometimes, but I promise you he is there!

I love to sing sing sing! I love to hear others sing as well.
To me singing is my best gift, it’s my weapon, it’s where my anointing most shows & flows! I also have been called to preach & teach the gospel… but of course, I’ve been truly running from that part of me! But I do know I’m truly called. God has brought me through many mountains, hills, and valleys, and I know for a fact that it was nobody else but God! I fought to get to where I am today mentally, and I truly have to give God all the praise for that. See, the devil thought he had me, but my God, I GOT A WAY!!! And since I got away, I can’t do anything back go sing and tell the good news of how God saved my life and made me whole again! I am a LIVING TESTIMONY WITH A WHOLE LOT OF PURPOSE!

What are your plans for the future?
Hopefully, within the next 5 years, my independent music label will be known, heard supported, and successful throughout the nation! I look for to working with any artist who is just simply a go-getter and who is serious about his/her craft and character! I’m one of the humblest around, if I may ask myself… and I would love to work with anyone. They most definitely have to honor and love God. I also look forward to having my name sit amongst the greats in the music industry and music ministries across the nations and internationally
