Meet Siddhartha Lansiquot of Xavier Jordan Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Siddhartha Lansiquot.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Castries, St. Lucia and later moved to Bergenfield, NJ when I was around 11 years old. I’ve always had a love for the music of all genres which led to a brief internship with a local record company in New York. I moved to North Texas when I was 19 and found music again becoming part owner with a now-defunct record studio called Black Star Studios. It was there that led to my passion for photography, I was a jack of all trades around the studio.

I produced music, I engineered and I handled any type of computer issues. Our company decided to venture into videography and shooting album covers and we had no photographer or videographer. I researched the latest cameras and my partners and I somehow decided I would be in charge of photography and the rest is history from there. Our partnership eventually dissolved and the company closed but my passion for photography grew from there. I also met my wife in Texas and my vision for Xavier Jordan Photography began over six years ago.

It’s named after two of my sons Xavier and Jordan. We’re a family oriented business and we’re constantly learning and growing. My family plays a huge role within my company and provide me with constant support to keep the business flowing. We are a small company but we anticipate many big moves happening in our near future, we’re always learning and continuously growing to better and enhance our business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road for me but because it hasn’t, I can appreciate life more and navigate the obstacles a lot clearer now. I’ve tried many business ventures and I’m thankful for my wife who has stayed beside me throughout all of the business I’ve succeeded and failed at. Like I said I’ve tried many things but photography was the one that stuck and everything else I did is a bonus.

I’m grateful for all the wins and the losses, I face challenges on a daily basis but it’s how I respond to them that keeps me humble and grounded.  I’ve had several business partners along the way but things didn’t work out, there just wasn’t enough room for two CEO’s and the partnerships dissolved. There’s no love lost, I wish everyone success in anything they choose to do. When you’re your own boss you have to work extremely hard to keep your business alive and to maintain a positive and respectable brand.

I’m also a self-taught photographer, so I’m constantly working on my skills to be one of the best photographers out there. At the end of the day, I’m extremely passionate about my family and photography and I believe hard work pays off, so I keep pushing. I will never forget where I came from but the future is really bright for me.

My company has a long way to go and I ’m not saying I’m came from anything but to get where I am, took a great amount of studying, rejection, love and the will to keep going. I’m proud that in my darkest hours, I didn’t give up, I hustled and worked hard to get where I am today. I’m proud of my team because they’re loyal and I can’t do this alone and I’m proud of my family for holding me down, I’m proud of where at Xavier Jordan Photography is today.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
