Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivy Odame.

Ivy Odame
Hi Ivy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story:
Absolutely! So yah, a bit about me, I’ve been acting since I was around 8 years old. I’ve always had a passion for storytelling and exploring different perspectives in people, which has fueled my love for the arts. Throughout my journey, I have always found that acting has not only deepened my appreciation for arts & creativity but has also significantly boosted my confidence in communication. I’m not joking when I say that the more I perfect my craft, the better I understand the psychology of people. It’s honestly so mind-blowing to look back on my journey so far and see the time and dedication I’ve put into pursuing it. It’s a testament to how much we can truly exceed our own expectations when we embrace persistence and consistency! The path has been wild, and I’m excited for what’s next!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You know, growing up my family and I moved around a lot, which was always such an adventure! Each new place felt like a fresh start with different neighborhoods came different communities and types of people. While daunting it may have seemed for some, we absolutely loved it being a bit of a “traveling bunch” in all. With all the traveling and trying new things, I was constantly evolving, but my passion for acting and the sacrifices made to make it happen never changed.
Still today, I can still vividly remember begging my parents to let me attend this new performing arts school called “Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy”. A school redesigned for gifted and talented students in the Greater Arlington area, who excelled in arts and academics. Getting into that school became my mission, and I did it! Following that success, I also achieved my dream of studying at my dream college as well.
I’m truly grateful for those choices I made as a young teen; they shaped countless opportunities for me and helped progress my acting career in ways I could’ve never imagined.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Oooh, what a great question! Hmm, life as an aspiring actress who’s on and off again working is definitely tough, but it’s incredibly rewarding to see your work being fruitful. This industry demands a high level of adaptability, one minute, you’re auditioning for projects, shows, or smaller films while juggling a completely different day job. Then, you find yourself booked on set, involved in rehearsals and table reads. To simplify it, it feels like a classic freelance hustle, where success is often based on who you know or where you are at the right time. It often comes down to if you’re fit for the role or not.
One of my favorite projects that really stands out is being a guest star on a popular kids YouTube series called “Shiloh & Bros.” that was such a fun, action packed production to work for and being with the cast was a blast! Another fun opportunity that comes to mind was working on a production at the original Pinewood Studios in England.
In terms of describing my brand and business, I’m a true doer. I like to call it being creatively impulsive, always diving headfirst into new ideas and projects. When I have a vision or an idea for where I want my life to go, I’m always moving towards it, no questions asked. It keeps things exciting and allows me to chase my dreams with unwavering energy and passion for it.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

Oh gosh, I’m a big talker, sometimes it feels as if I will never run out of things to say! I’m a firm believer in the power of “doing.” Whether it’s about your business, education, or career, it’s crucial to dive in and start “doing” or “trying” things, even if they feel uncomfortable or not quite right at first. Weigh out your options and ideas set a goal to practice towards it. In the journey of accomplishing you dreams and goals, giving yourself grace and room to grow is a huge part of it. If you don’t succeed, just try again! Keep digging for new ways and paths to take towards your goals.

Speaking of new ideas, I’m thrilled to announce my upcoming podcast, “Bread Nights with Ivy,” launching in early March 2024! It will be available on all podcast platforms. My team and I wanted to create a space for fun, creative thinkers like ourselves, especially for pre-teens, teens and young adults navigating their path in the “here and now” of life. I’m super excited for this creative adventure and can’t wait to see where this new project leads! Thanks so much again for having me!
