Meet Cricket Quast of J.Hilburn and Jk Bella Events in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cricket Quast.

Cricket, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Almost six years ago, while visiting my parents in Chicago on spring break with my three daughters, I experienced watching a J.Hilburn appointment for my dad. It was so fun to observe, and I asked the stylist a lot of questions. My youngest daughter was going to start kindergarten in the fall and I wanted to start contributing financially to my family while still having the flexibility to be a stay at home mom. I was a teacher by trade but knew I didn’t want my own classroom again at that point. Being a style consultant seemed like a fun and interesting opportunity, so I decided to give men’s style consulting a try. Little did I know that I would fall in love with this business that not only helps create amazing styles for my clients but also builds both confidence and relationships.

A few years ago, I had some unexpected lifestyle changes. With those changes came a new focus on growing my business. I realized that I not only wanted to give style advice to men but also use and combine another passion I have, which is planning events. I’ve always loved planning many parties for my own family and friends, so I became certified as a wedding and event planner. A year ago, I launched JK Bella Events, named after the three most important ‘whys’ in my life: my daughters Jeanine, Katrina, and Isabella. I now combine two of my professional passions: J.Hilburn custom clothing and event planning.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I often describe my journey with my businesses as a marathon, not a sprint. I’ve steadily grown my J.Hilburn business over the last six years. When my unexpected life changes occurred my business suffered for a short time, but with a new why and loyal clients my business has continued to grow, This past year my business increased over 25%!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about J.Hilburn and Jk Bella Events – what should we know?
I’m a style consultant with J.Hilburn which is a men’s lifestyle brand. We style men in luxury custom and made to measure clothing using the finest fabrics from the best Italian mills. Men deserve to gain confidence by wearing good clothing that fits at an affordable price.

Since J.Hilburn is not brick and mortar, we are able to offer luxury clothing at a lower price point. We now have more made to measure categories than any other luxury brand. One of the best parts of my business is when my clients come out smiling after trying on their first shirt. Another part of this job that I love is the relationships I build with my clients and other stylists. My clients become friends of mine and not just a client. Stylists also all support each other and become like family.

Opening my event business is partly an extension of my J.Hilburn business. I have been lucky enough to style some clients for their special events as well as help plan them. Jk Bella plans many types of events, from kids parties to weddings.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe being motivated and having perseverance has been the most important characteristics of my businesses. Quitting has never been an option for me.
