Exploring Life & Business with Stephanie McConnell of Principal Principles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie McConnell.

Stephanie McConnell

Hi Stephanie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey with Principal Principles began with a deep-seated passion for education and a commitment to fostering positive change within school leadership. Driven by a desire to share my insights and empower fellow leaders, I founded Principal Principles. Initially, it began as a humble endeavor, offering guidance and support to local educators. However, as word spread about the transformative impact of our programs and resources, our reach expanded, reaching aspiring and seasoned leaders alike across the globe.

In addition to my work with Principal Principles, I am also the proud author and founder of WIN Time – What I Need. This innovative program is a testament to my commitment to personalized learning and student-centered approaches. WIN Time empowers educators to tailor instruction to meet the unique needs of every student, fostering a culture of inclusivity and academic excellence within schools.

Today, I am incredibly proud to have assisted leaders from diverse backgrounds and contexts in elevating their schools to new heights of success through Principal Principles and WIN Time. Our approach is rooted in practicality and actionable strategies, designed to equip leaders with the tools and confidence needed to navigate the complexities of educational leadership effectively.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road by any means. I have struggled in the dual role of being a school leader and running a business. Balancing the demands of running a business with the responsibilities of school leadership requires careful time management. Finding enough hours in the day to address both sets of obligations can be a constant struggle. In addition, the demands of maintaining a healthy work-life balance have also been a challenge. To this day, I continue to carve out time for self-care. As we all know, taking care of yourself is key to being able to handle the stress of two full-time careers. The combined pressures of school leadership and entrepreneurship can be stressful and overwhelming at times. Despite these challenges, I am committed to fulfilling both roles to the best of my ability, leveraging my experience and expertise to drive positive outcomes in education and business alike. Each day presents new opportunities for growth and learning, and I remain dedicated to making a meaningful impact in both careers.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned during the COVID-19 crisis is the importance of human connection and relationships. As I navigated the challenges of the pandemic, I discovered that I am truly a people person. This realization has highlighted the significance of interpersonal connections in both my personal and professional life. Moving forward, I plan to leverage this insight to foster stronger relationships, whether it’s in my role as a school leader, a business owner, or in my personal interactions.
