Hi Rachana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Rachana Arora, the founder of Rtisanal.
When I started Rtisanal in 2022, I had not worked in 12 years since I had dedicated this time to raising my 2 kids. As they grew older & more independent where they didn’t need me as much, I had an itch to start something which would give me flexibility of working from home. Being a certified jewelry designer myself, a little push from my family did the trick! It was a no-brainer that I wanted to start something in the jewelry field, given my background in jewelry design.
As I started Rtisanal, and started meeting with new clients, I found that with a savvy social media strategy and building personal relationships, I was able to host my jewels at various events. Within a year of starting the business, I started participating in exhibitions to show my products & designs. I had opportunities to be the Designer at the F.L.Y. Event, judge a jewelry show, be the exclusive designer for Mrs. INDIA Texas- National, and be a jewelry stylist for TCP Universe Pageant. I started participating in exhibitions to show my products & designs. Each win & positive feedback reinforced my belief in myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business and being an entrepreneur can be overwhelming, especially when you don’t have a background in business. The process of registering your LLC and navigating the financial aspects, including cash flow statements and bookkeeping, were challenging as I was unfamiliar with these concepts.
But remember, it’s perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed when facing unfamiliar territory. Give yourself the time and space to learn and grow.

I’m the founder of Rtisanal (pronounced-aar-ti-san-al), where I curate a collection of Indian / Contemporary jewelry pieces. At Rtisanal, we believe in blending style and simplicity with impeccable craftsmanship. With my background as a certified jewelry designer, I bring a keen eye for style and creativity to the selection process. Each piece in our collection is handcrafted with care and passion, reflecting a modern aesthetic while honoring traditional Indian influences. We take pride in delivering quality-conscious jewelry that not only looks fashionable and is affordable but also resonates with your unique sense of style.

My advice for those starting their journey is to have a thirst for knowledge, to never stop learning, and to seek out mentors and experts who can guide and inspire you.
When I first started Rtisanal, I had a clear vision in mind, but I quickly realized that the business landscape was evolving rapidly, and I needed to be flexible in my approach. I embraced the concept of pivoting when necessary. This meant being open to feedback from clients, staying attuned to market trends, and being willing to make adjustments to my products and strategies. It required me to step outside my comfort zone and explore new possibilities, even if it meant deviating from my initial plans.
By staying agile and receptive to new ideas, I was able to identify emerging trends, explore innovative marketing approaches, and connect with a broader audience.
