Hi LaTrease, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Hey there, I’m LaTrease, formerly known as BraidsbyTrease/Rastabae Locs (the creator of the rastabae texture loc style) but guess what? I’ve rebranded and I’m bursting with excitement! I’m a full-time entrepreneur specializing in Faux Locs, Stitch Braids, and Protective Styles. Can you believe I’ve been rocking the beauty industry for over a decade now!
My journey began way back when I was just 10 years old, styling the cool kids at my local Boys and Girls Club. Fast forward to 2013 when I made the bold move to Dallas after high school, and I’ve been here ever since. Between juggling college, a part-time job at FedEx, and my passion for entrepreneurship, it’s been a wild ride.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My obstacles didn’t stop me! I overcame ever last one of them, and guess what? I did it! I graduated from college in 2017 with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. And now, here we are in 2024, and I’m still going strong. Sure, I’m part-time now, but that’s because I’ve leveled up and rebranded to HerCre8iveStyles!

I like to call myself the GOAT, the mastermind behind 2hr Faux Locs with the fast-flicking wrist, aka the Faux loc GOAT! And let me tell you, I’m beyond thrilled to be here as a full-time entrepreneur, living and breathing my passion every single day.
One thing that sets me apart? My ability to thrive in any situation! Bring on the challenges because I absolutely love them. Whether it’s adapting to new trends or overcoming obstacles, I tackle it all with gusto. And let’s talk about perseverance! Over the past decade, I’ve seen it all, from tough times to triumphs. And guess what? I’m still standing, stronger than ever!
Even through the chaos of Covid, I’ve managed to keep the fire burning and my creativity flowing. And now, to top it all off, being here with you today feels like a dream come true! This isn’t just another interview; it’s THE interview, and I’m honored to share my journey with you.
With each interview, I’m reminded of how far I’ve come and how much further I can go. So, thank you for keeping up with me, for believing in my story, and for giving me the chance to shine once again. Let’s make this the best one yet!

Good luck has definitely been a driving force in my life and business journey.
I firmly believe in setting positive intentions daily and chasing after my goals with passion and determination. And you know what? It seems like the universe has been on my side more often than not. From landing amazing opportunities to meeting incredible clients who become like family, it’s been a whirlwind of blessings.
Sure, there have been moments of adversity along the way, but I’ve always found a way to turn them around. Whether it’s through sheer determination or finding the silver lining in every situation, I’ve stayed grounded and focused on the positive.
And can we talk about social media? Let’s just say, I’ve had my fair share of viral moments. With every share, like, and comment, I’ve felt like I’m making my mark on the world. It’s been amazing to see my work resonate with people all over the globe, having clients from all over it has been truly a blessing! Even with all the rebrands I’ve went through!
So, here’s to good luck, to setting intentions, and to chasing dreams with all my heart. With each day, I’m grateful for the opportunities that come my way, and I can’t wait to see what lucky surprises tomorrow will bring!
