Hidden Gems: Meet Faith Anderson of Tenth Child Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Anderson.

Faith Anderson

Hi Faith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in Entertainment as a supporting vocalist for Kirk Franklin. During my graduate year at Paul Quinn College, I was asked to sing a worship song to a group of singers, not realizing the artist was Kirk Franklin. My origin in music began in my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, growing up in a musical family with my mother as a singing alto and often lead singer in our church choir and my father on bass guitar, aunt on the organ, and family playing multiple instruments and singing in the choir as well. Our greatest heroes in music were The Legendary Clark Sisters and our hometown legends, The GAP Band.

My knowledge of music was fueled by my father’s love of music and his desire to see his children thrive in it. While in college, I brought that same love of music with me and loved to explore what this city had to offer in gospel music. What I came to learn was that Kirk Franklin was THEE KIRK FRANKLIN! He thought enough of my gift to invite me into his creative space, and with him, I became a professional recording artist; after many years of service and touring the world, I developed a hunger to evolve into Music Business and became an entrepreneur and Music Executive of my own company, Tenth Child Inc. Headquartered in Downtown Dallas.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Embracing failures in the journey of growing your business is a crucial element that transforms setbacks into valuable lessons. Each stumble becomes a steppingstone toward honing your skills and business acumen. The resilience developed through overcoming failures cultivates a tenacity that is indispensable for leadership. As you navigate challenges, learning from mistakes instills a profound understanding of the intricacies of your industry. With each setback, you evolve into a fierce leader equipped with the wisdom to make informed decisions. Success, when achieved, is not merely a triumph but a testament to your perseverance, making the victories all the more gratifying and sweet.

Women in the music industry often encounter various hurdles, including gender bias, unequal opportunities, and stereotypes. Discrimination in terms of recognition and representation is an unfortunate factor such as fewer women occupying key roles in production, management, and executive positions. The industry’s emphasis on physical appearance can lead to objectification, overshadowing talent and expertise. Unequal pay persists, with women frequently earning less than their male counterparts. Balancing career demands with societal expectations of traditional gender roles can create additional challenges. It is an ongoing effort to promote inclusivity, challenge stereotypes, and advocate for equal opportunities in the diverse areas of the music business.

I remain hopeful, prepared, and ready to serve in effort to create a smoother road for women in business.

We’ve been impressed with Tenth Child Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I live each day in dedication to the legacy of Kenneth & Frankie L. Anderson. My parents had a dream for each of their children. At the core of their vision for us includes Christ at the center of any and all things. They have always been front row and center to our greatest accomplishments. Back in the day, my father would take us to Sound Warehouse on his payday to allow us time to study music, purchasing only one record a week to take home and sometimes two (ha!). I can remember vividly being called by name from the store staff and having new releases held until our arrival. My father’s passion for music taught me how to appreciate the art of sound, vocal arrangements, and concerts in general. My mother created an atmosphere in our home that encouraged work and worship, Laziness was not allowed in our home. We worked while we listened to music, and that is how we learned harmony, rhythm, and lyrics. Because church was the central nervous system to our world, Mother would raise us to serve the congregation with our gifts and our community. As the Dean of Charles Harrison Mason Bible College, she would teach men and women in our church fellowship hall how to read, write, and excel in mathematics so to achieve their GED. She was passionate about sharing her gift to the hopeless and opening their eyes to a new path of achievement.

I like to believe that Tenth Child Inc. is the perfect blend of passion + education with a splash of ambition. I am driven to take years of preparation and make something amazing out of pure internal fire so that I can come out as pure gold! Just like my father, I have stepped away from norms and created a path for the firm to grow and expand. The road won’t be easy as long as gender bias, prejudice, and discrimination exist. I plan to make it look sexy! Tenth Child Inc. is here today because of God as well as our belief and pride in our work. I am forever grateful for all the love and support this platform offers. Thank you for seeing myself and others.
