Rising Stars: Meet Deanna Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Robinson.

Deanna Robinson

Deanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It’s the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown, and I’m at home with my kids. My son comes up with this wild idea to sell cupcakes in the neighborhood. I figured, why not? But after trying his first batch, I knew we had to step up our game. Instead of settling for mediocrity, I saw an opportunity to unleash my inner baker (which I didn’t know I had). I started experimenting in the kitchen, determined to create something truly special. After my first attempt, I struck gold with a recipe that had everyone raving, especially my son.

His excitement was infectious, and it got me thinking maybe there’s more to this than just a fun project. And that’s how our little cupcake venture turned into a full-fledged business.

From refining recipes to hustling to get our name out there, it’s been a rollercoaster ride. But with each challenge came a new opportunity for growth. Today, we’ve gone from selling cupcakes door-to-door to having a thriving business with a loyal following.

It hasn’t always been easy, but seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they bite into one of our cupcakes makes it all worthwhile. And who knows what the future holds? All I know is, I’m grateful for the journey that brought us here, and I can’t wait to see where we go next.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
You know, it’s funny because when people ask about the challenges I’ve faced on this journey, they’re always expecting some dramatic tale of struggle. But the truth is, it’s been surprisingly smooth sailing.

Before this venture, life felt like a constant uphill battle. Just a few months before I even thought about starting this business, I was in a car accident. It left me with two broken vertebrae and a bleak outlook on life. As a single mom with four kids, working two jobs just to make ends meet, it felt like I was always one step away from disaster.

But then, something shifted. I don’t know if it was faith or just sheer determination, but I decided to let go and let God take the wheel. And you know what? Doors started opening left and right. What started as a non-existent kupcake kompany quickly turned into something more.

In just over a year, I went from baking in my home kitchen to owning a bustling brick-and-mortar store. I was one of the first businesses on DoorDash in my area, and suddenly, I was able to quit both of my jobs and move my family into a bigger, more comfortable home.

Looking back, I realize that all those struggles I faced before were because I was living a life I thought I should be living, not the one I was meant for. Now, for the first time, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. Sure, there are still long hours and plenty of challenges, but none of it fazes me. Because deep down, I know this is all part of God’s plan for me. And when you’re following your purpose, everything just falls into place.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When asked about my specialty, it might sound a bit cliché, but I specialize in making people happy with Kupkakes. Now, before you roll your eyes and think, “Aren’t Kupkakes supposed to do that anyway?” let me explain.

What I’m doing isn’t just baking Kupkakes; I’m changing the Kupkake game altogether. It’s about altering perceptions, challenging expectations, and leaving a lasting impression on taste buds and hearts alike.

You see, when most people think of Kupkakes, they have a pretty standard idea in mind – fluffy, sweet, maybe a bit predictable. But what I’m serving up is a whole new experience. It’s about surprising people, making them laugh, smile, and even bust a move while enjoying a treat.

Sure, anyone can eat a Kupkake and think, “That was good,” and move on. But what I’m known for is making people stop in their tracks, take a bite, and have their whole day brightened by the experience. It’s about turning skeptics into believers and transforming the mundane into the extraordinary.

I often tell people that my Kupkakes will change their lives. And you know what? More often than not, they do. It’s not just about the flavor; it’s about the feeling, the memories, the sheer joy that comes with every bite.

So, the next time you sink your teeth into one of my creations, prepare to have your world rocked. Because once you’ve experienced the magic of my Kupkakes, there’s no going back. I’m not just changing the way you view Kupkakes; I’m changing the way you experience happiness, one bite at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck; I believe in faith.”

This statement encapsulates my perspective on life and business. While some may attribute success to mere chance or happenstance, I firmly believe that faith plays a pivotal role in shaping our destinies.

In a world where uncertainty looms large and challenges abound, faith serves as an anchor, guiding us through the storms and uncertainties of life. It’s about trusting in a higher power, surrendering control, and believing that everything happens for a reason.

In the realm of entrepreneurship, faith is the driving force behind every decision, every endeavor. It’s what empowers me to take risks, to pursue my dreams with unwavering conviction, and to navigate the inevitable obstacles with grace and resilience.

So, while luck may come and go like a fleeting breeze, faith endures as a steadfast beacon of hope and inspiration. And as I continue on this journey, I do so with the firm belief that faith will always lead me to where I’m meant to be.
