Today we’d like to introduce you to Kazell Johnson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Kazell. I go by Keezmadeit (my producer name) So. I was about 8 years old and was introduced to the love of music production just hanging around my older brother and cousins who used to rap and make their own beats in our basement back home in Milwaukee, WI. I used to just sit there and study what they were doing at a young age, and they eventually showed me the ropes. It all started on this music production software called Fruity Loops, which has rebranded to FL Studio now. I then started practicing making beats on my own at about 14 years old and took it a little more serious at about 17 years old producing for local artists in my hometown. I ended up joining the military a couple years after high school at 20 years old, still making beats and perfecting my craft while I served. I got out the Army and moved to Dallas in 2017, where my family had moved to from Milwaukee while I was in. Between that timespan and now I just been traveling the US, working 9-5 jobs to stay afloat, making music, networking and meeting different people across the industry while still maneuvering through life and its beautiful challenges. I’m just super grateful for it all, even though I have yet to reach my prime.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all, lol. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for sure. I faced all kinds of unfortunate events like homelessness, losing jobs, and a lot of other things I don’t talk about as much. We all have faced some sort of struggle in life, and it’s just a reminder that we’re human and we have to go through darkness sometimes to see the light. Me personally I just keep my faith in God and stay prayed up. He never fails me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music producer, beatmaker, and entrepreneur. I specialize in making hip hop, rap, and trap and R&B music. I’m known for being versatile and my creativity & passion I put into my music. I’m most proud of my growth and how far I’ve come talent-wise. And what sets me apart from others is how unique I am in a lot of aspects. I bring a different kind of energy that’ll light up a room, but it’s unfamiliar in a way, but somehow, it stands out, if you know what I mean lol
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I’m a really good basketball player! I might not have played college or on a professional level, but I got some undiscovered, raw talent in that as well. There’s a select few who knows me that might not say the same, but if you ask me, they’re just haters, lol
