Hidden Gems: Meet Heidi Taylor of Taylored Lash Bar

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Taylor.

Heidi Taylor

Hi Heidi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a licensed cosmologist since 2013, but I ended up never using it (but kept it current) until 2021. My now fiancé moved to Dallas for school, and naturally, I moved with him. I took a job as an assistant General Manager at a boutique fitness studio called Row House. While I loved my clients, the management I wasn’t fond of them, specifically when I became pregnant and was let go. I had previously been looking for a second job or a different one when a lash franchise reached out to me. I took them up on their offer, and my lash career began. I was awful at the beginning, but after a while, I got the hang of it, and after I had my son, we moved to the Texoma area, and I took a 6-month break. I then decided I still wanted to lash, so I looked around and found a spot in Sherman from which I could lash. Unfortunately, she, the boss, would belittle me and eventually let me go for being “too independent” for her. I took what little savings I had, along with the help of my future in-laws, and opened up a small studio inside Denison. I worked countless hours to build what I have today. We’re actually about to move buildings so we can expand more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Between falling pregnant, getting evicted, moving to a new area, having a newborn, and postpartum depression, it all took a big toll on me and my family.

As you know, we’re big fans of Taylored Lash Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Taylored Lash Bar is a business that specializes in lash extensions and henna brows. So, the word ‘Taylored’ is a play on my last name. But it fits so perfectly with my vision. I want to enhance natural beauty by having each look customized to the person – essentially being “tailored” to them. The thing that sets me apart from others is the communication and comprehension of my clients. I give the most informational consult, which includes drawings and going over eye shapes, distances between your eyebrows, and so much more. I’m proud of what I’ve built because Taylored Lash Bar, also sometimes known as TLB, is becoming a more well-known name not just because the lash extensions lash but because people finally feel like family instead of just another number. My most popular service is definitely my “hybrid” look. It’s a full but naturally full look. I’ve had a client who had a few medical issues come back after six weeks and still have quite a few lashes. She told me that she had been confident in me before, but now she is even more confident.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
There are a few things; while most lash artists go to get certifications to learn how to primarily lash, the company in Irving actually reached out to me and said they were going to pay me to learn. So, I had the opposite learning aspect of the traditional artist. I think that could be why I’m so meticulous about my work. Someone paid me to do a job, and I’m going to do my absolute best at it.
