Today, we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Waite.
Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in my hometown, Cincinnati, I ran and operated a holistic massage practice as a licensed massage therapist for eight years. For 12 years, I dedicated my skills to providing healing touch and relaxation to humans. But deep down, I had always felt a special connection with animals. Four years ago, I decided to embark on a new journey and began transitioning into animal massage. It all started as a playful experiment. Whenever I encountered animals, I couldn’t resist giving them a gentle massage, just for fun. Little did I know that these playful moments would shape my future. It was seven years ago when my path took an unexpected turn. I started doing home care for a kind-hearted woman who had two beautiful cats. As I spent time with them, I noticed something remarkable. The cats responded positively to my touch and massage. Their purrs and relaxed demeanor spoke volumes about the benefits of therapeutic touch for animals. I became more and more fascinated. I studied various techniques, attended workshops, and sought guidance from experts in the field. With each passing day, my passion for helping animals through massage grew stronger. A couple of years later, I welcomed a furry cockapoo into my home. A dog who was initially anxious and unsure of his new surroundings. Determined to help him find peace and comfort, I applied my knowledge of bodywork to provide him with gentle massages. I witnessed a remarkable transformation in him. His anxiety began to fade, and a sense of calmness settled.
Inspired by these experiences, I realized that I had found my true calling to bring the healing power of touch and massage to animals. I dedicated myself to honing my skills, expanding my knowledge, and becoming a trusted practitioner in the field of animal massage. I sought a way to combine my passion for Massage Therapy and my lifelong love for animals.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacle so far has been leaving behind a community, friendships, and connections that I’ve established for over a decade. To pursue my new venture into animals.
Another struggle had been with educating others about the benefits of animal massage. I’m always asked if it is a thing. Yes, it’s a thing!
I’ve faced challenges in being accepted as a mainstream service due to traditional views on animal care and skepticism about the benefits of massage for animals. Perceptions are gradually changing as more people recognize the advantages of holistic approaches to animal wellness.
We’ve been impressed with North Dallas Animal Massage, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
