Inspiring Conversations with Alexandra & Steve DeLeon of MCM University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra & Steve DeLeon. They and their team shared their story with us below:

At the age of 21, Steve was fortunate enough to land a summer internship at a local real estate investment firm. He had been going to school with the idea that he would become an attorney. However, after absorbing everything he could while working at the investment firm, that all changed for him. Steve knew then what he wanted to do and never looked back. 

On March 9, 1988, at the age of 24, Steve purchased his first investment property. He barely had enough money to make the earnest money deposit, but he was confident his first solo transaction would be profitable. What an experience! 

Since then, Steve has been a part of thousands of single and multifamily transactions in and around the greater North Texas area. He has grown tremendously over the years, and his reputation in the real estate industry is impeccable. Taking that leap and building his own real estate investment business changed his life and shaped the life of his family. 

In 2020, Steve and his daughter, Alexandra, embarked on the highly anticipated launch of MCM University. Together, they developed a comprehensive education-focused company aimed at opening doors for professional real estate agents, eager new investors, and seasoned investors. At MCM University, the mission is clear: to provide comprehensive education and guidance to real estate professionals at every stage of their careers. Whether new agents, seasoned veterans, real estate investors, or individuals seeking to build wealth through property investments, MCMU strives to equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the beginning, the road was bumpy. Real estate investors tend to have a negative reputation with local communities, and Steve spearheaded the journey to soften the investor’s reputation through education. His first course, Introduction to Real Estate Investing, aimed to break down the 5 main types of real estate investors. He wanted real estate agents to fully understand these different types of investors, so it was clear that not all real estate investors operate the same. It took some time, but Steve was able to win over the Realtor community! 

We’ve been impressed with MCM University, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Adaptation! To be successful in any business, it’s paramount to adapt to the current marketplace. Over the past 35 years, we’ve seen all sorts of markets and persevered through them all.
