Today we’d like to introduce you to J. Poole. They and their team shared their story with us below:
The phrase “Make It Nasty” harbors diverse interpretations, yet Gary, Indiana native Joshua Poole (J. Poole) has endeavored to impart a singular meaning to it. Originating as a high school expression, “Make It Nasty” evolved into an enduring statement for Poole. During his tenure at Wiley University in East Texas, the phrase burgeoned into a brand, a movement, and a lifestyle. Upon graduating and relocating to the DFW Metroplex, MIN fashion began to embody a spirit of creativity, propelling the brand beyond traditional clothing constraints. With vibrant colors and distinctive designs that command attention, MIN transcended its initial identity as solely a clothing label. Poole’s vision extends beyond fashion, advocating for a life philosophy that challenges conventions and champions personal beliefs wholeheartedly. Make It Nasty represents an amalgamation of Poole’s principles, urging individuals to defy norms and embrace their authentic selves. Poole embarked on diverse artistic ventures, transitioning from a behind-the-scenes role to a prominent presence in directing music videos, organizing productions across multiple cities, and collaborating with prominent figures to elevate M I N and other artists. MIN’s mission centers on bridging the divide between aspirations and obstacles, fostering a community of like-minded individuals striving for growth. Positioned as a platform to empower individuals to hone their voices and unique creative expressions, J. Poole endeavors to guide others in making their mark authentically and boldly.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth, especially with the name “Make It Nasty.” I never believed it would be easy to convince people that a name with a derogative meaning can also have a positive influence on others. Just like an idiom, taking something negative and turning it into something positive has been my goal since the first moment I spoke the words “Make It Nasty. “In the beginning, many people took the phrase as a joke or something that has only been seen as a negative, but over time, just like a culture, it begins to grow. Over the years, many people told me I should change my name and make it more professional, but “Make It Nasty” is more than a phrase; it’s a lifestyle. My entire life, I’ve had to earn what I got. It wasn’t handed to me; it didn’t fall out of the air, and my parents didn’t give it to me on a silver platter. I worked hard, gave it my all, determined to achieve it, and mastered it. This is what “Make It Nasty” is all about: giving it your all, knowing the struggle, and overcoming the struggle.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

In the near future, he intends to launch the ‘MIN Corner’ Talks show featuring discussions about popular culture alongside genuine expressions of artistic souls through YouTube content and social media platforms.
What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy most of all is life within itself, from the growing experience that has led me to this point and the opportunities that have given me more wisdom, knowledge, and strength. I look at life as an obstacle that I am growing from every day. I tend to strive for peace, understanding, and being open-minded about changes that can lead me to greatness. Being creative within that time frame has helped me find a sense of authentic simplicity and enjoyment of memoirs that inspire me to create. I love culture, so I at least try to take at least one trip a year to help promote self-care, medication, and inspiration from others. During most of the year, when I am not being creative and I am teaching, which brings a lot of joy to my soul. Having the opportunity to inspire and help grow the next generation socially, academically, and overall, as well as to be a better citizen of today’s society, is more fulfilling than anything. I believe happiness comes from personally anything that we put all our focus on and see the outcome; that is true happiness.
