Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc-alain Muteba.

Marc-alain Muteba

Hi Marc-alain, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Marc-Alain Muteba, and I am originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Growing up in Eastern Congo, I harbored doubts about my intelligence for a long time. However, after completing high school, I seized an opportunity to move to Kampala, Uganda, to learn English, as French was my first language. During my year in Uganda, I made a startling discovery—I was not lacking in intelligence as I had once believed. This realization ignited a passion to better understand my learning process: What were my strengths? What skills did I possess? Where should I direct my focus?

As I delved into self-exploration, I stumbled upon a transformative book: “Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do” by the late Rev. Robert H. Schuller. Something about his words ignited a thirst for knowledge, and I was drawn to reading. This newfound love for reading catalyzed improvements across various facets of my life.

Rev. Schuller’s book paved the way for another life-altering read: “Gifted Hands” by Dr. Ben Carson. Dr. Carson’s journey served as a beacon of inspiration for me, particularly his assertion that “If I can read, I can learn anything.” This simple yet profound statement reshaped my self-perception, propelling me toward intentional growth.

In my quest for personal development, I encountered influential figures such as Dr. John Maxwell and Zig Ziglar. Despite struggling to comprehend Zig Ziglar’s teachings due to my limited English proficiency, I was undeterred in my pursuit of knowledge.

In early 2012, I relocated to Kenya, where I continued my journey of leadership and growth. Motivated by my transformation, I began recording short audio messages, which I dubbed “New Hope,” to offer weekly encouragement to others. Over time, this endeavor evolved into a platform for sharing insights from our reading journeys and its profound impact on my life.

Fast-forward to 2022. A decade after migrating to the United States and marrying my amazing wife, Plamedie, I decided to launch the podcast Unbounded Growth. This platform was envisioned as a space to delve into the books that had shaped me and the ensuing transformations and host discussions with fellow readers and leaders, amplifying their stories of resilience and growth. Though initially hesitant to publish my solo episodes, the encouragement and support of my wife, Plamedie, my Brother Zéf-Osée Muteba, and friends like Adam Shebindu emboldened me to leap.

In collaboration with Adam and other remarkable individuals like Joss Ilunga and my brother Zéf-Osée Muteba, we work together on Unbounded Growth. This podcast aims to enrich lives, ignite minds, and inspire growth through knowledge and action to grow a better you!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every journey is fraught with challenges, and the path to launching and sustaining Unbounded Growth has been no exception. The week we planned to record a joint episode with my friend Adam, I suffered the devastating loss of my father, Franck-August Mukute Muteba. His passing took an immense emotional toll on me, casting a shadow over our plans.

Transitioning leisure time into learning time became essential as I delved into the technical aspects of podcasting. Ensuring the delivery of quality content in a polished format demanded significant investment, both in time and finances. Despite the sacrifices made and the ongoing need for equipment upgrades, I’ve come to understand the wisdom in the words of a wise man: “If we wait for all the lights to turn green, we’ll never leave the house. My Brother Kristian Muteba’s feedback has always been encouraging while remaining realistic and honest, helping me to adjust as we continue to grow.

To chase after your dreams, your passion and discipline must outweigh your fear of failure and disappointment. This realization has been a guiding light on this challenging yet fulfilling journey.

The inspiration I draw from my late father, Franck-August Muteba, the prayers of my mother, Alphonsine Muteba, and the unwavering support of my family, whom I affectionately refer to as the Muteba Clan, have been instrumental in fueling my pursuit of my dreams. Additionally, the steadfast support of my wife, Plamedie, who has created a nurturing sanctuary for me and our son within our home, has given me the strength and encouragement to persevere.

Knowing that I am surrounded by such a strong support system, rooted in the love and guidance of my family, gives me the confidence to continue chasing my aspirations. In times of triumph and adversity alike, I am reassured by the knowledge that I have an entire village standing behind me, ready to offer their support and encouragement every step of the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of Unbounded Growth. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Additionally, we feature remarkable guests who generously share their experiences and insights with our audience.

On our website, visitors can access a wealth of blogs and resources designed to equip individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to embark on their journey toward self-improvement. We take pride in our commitment to nurturing personal growth in each individual, thereby contributing to the collective endeavor of making the world a better place.

Our listeners’ donations have also helped us to offer scholarships to children primarily in the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo, allowing orphans to go to school. Your support doesn’t just keep our episodes coming to you; it is also changing lives in Congo.

What’s next?
One of our primary goals for this year is to organize an in-person Leadership conference. This conference will provide a platform for in-depth discussions on various aspects of leadership, including what it means to be a leader, personal and professional growth strategies, and techniques for improving communication skills. This event aims to bring together aspiring leaders, seasoned professionals, and experts in the field to share insights, exchange ideas, and inspire one another.

In addition to the Leadership conference, we plan to host a series of interviews with prominent leaders. These interviews will offer a deep dive into these individuals’ personal and professional journeys, highlighting their experiences, challenges, and lessons learned along the way. By sharing these stories, we aim to give our audience valuable insights and inspiration to fuel their growth and development as leaders.

Furthermore, we are committed to positively impacting our community and beyond. To this end, we will organize a fundraiser to support the ongoing efforts of our partnering non-profit organizations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These organizations are crucial in assisting families displaced by the prolonged conflict in Eastern Congo. By rallying support and raising funds, we hope to contribute to their vital work and make a difference in the lives of those affected by adversity.
