Hidden Gems: Meet Adry Sanders of Thriving Beautifully Counseling & Supervision

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adry Sanders.

Adry Sanders

Hi Adry, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am Adriana (Adry) Sanders, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in Texas. I have been the proud owner/counselor at Thriving Beautifully Counseling & Supervision, PLLC, since 2022. I provide online individual therapy to Texas adult women (18+), with a focus on supporting daughters of immigrants to navigate life transitions, grief & loss, and anxiety/stress related to relationship challenges (break up, mother/daughter relationship, workplace relationships). I am also a board-approved supervisor in Texas, where I can supervise LPC associates. As licensed professional Counselors, we are required to obtain 3,000 clinical hours and be supervised by a board-approved supervisor prior to receiving full licensure.

I grew up in Dallas, TX, and established roots in Fort Worth, TX, after graduate school. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University (2009) and my master’s degree in Family and Marriage Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2012), with over a decade of experience in serving Fort Worth and surrounding communities. As a First-Generation college student, my vision in the mental health profession was to create a safe space for minority communities to heal and grow while being represented in the therapeutic space.

My superpower is connecting people! In March 2023, I partnered with Diana Beltran, LCSW-S owner/counselor at Happy Autumn Counseling & Supervision, PLLC, to co-host the BIPOC Professional Network, which provides a safe space for clinicians of color to connect, network, and gain cultural diversity continuing education. On the second Friday of every month, we host our networking event at Valley Hope of Grapevine and invite black, indigenous, people of color mental health clinicians to learn from each other, as well as welcome non-minorities who want to learn from these experts. Our goal is to assist mental health clinicians in becoming culturally informed so they may better serve minority communities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While this profession can be rewarding, research has shown healthcare professionals have amongst the highest burnout rates. Throughout my career, I have struggled with burnout and have needed to step back from direct care to address my own mental health while exploring other parts of the mental health field, such as business development. Fortunately, through the support of my colleagues, family/friends, my own therapy (thanks to my wonderful therapist for her wisdom and compassion), and my love for travel, I have been able to recover from burnout while I have continued to find work/life balance that supports my passion to advocate for others and re-align with my vision. I truly believe the mental health profession chose me!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Thriving Beautifully Counseling & Supervision advocates for individuals to discover and grow into the person they are supposed to become, reaching fulfillment joyfully and with deep compassion for life, not just surviving day to day but living life with passion and purpose, to flourish through the challenge of self-exploration, healing, and growth.

I am a Texas licensed professional counselor supervisor and a culturally trauma-informed Spanglish therapist with over a decade of clinical experience. I specialize in working with adult women who identify as daughters of immigrants, first-generation college students, and working professionals. I provide an interpersonal approach to building therapeutic rapport and creating a safe space for individuals to increase their self-awareness while challenging beliefs, patterns, and behaviors that are not aligned with their values. My clients have shared developing a self-compassion-focused understanding of themselves while identifying coping skills and strategies that help them regulate their brain and nervous system and establishing healthy boundaries to prioritize their own well-being has been impactful to their personal growth. I enjoy working with motivated and driven women who are ready to untangle their stories and discover the freedom to thrive beautifully!
