Today we’d like to introduce you to Amin Rajani.

Amin Rajani

Hi Amin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My photography journey began in 2020, but my passion for capturing life’s moments has been a lifelong pursuit. Based in Allen, Texas, I found endless inspiration in the beauty of this community and its surroundings. My mission is simple: to preserve your unique story through my lens, whether it’s in the controlled environment of the studio or the natural beauty of outdoor locations. I strive to create images that resonate with people. This is how my journey started. My initial “why,” if you will. As I continued to photograph these moments, my motives changed. I started photographing stories. I have worked with victims of domestic abuse, substance abuse, mental health issues, and many more. My “why” changed from crafting moments to crafting stories. My goal is not only to photograph but to empower and create a story where everyone can feel heard, feel safe, and feel supported.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a wild ride, no doubt about it. From scrambling to find clients without a single paid shoot under your belt to wrestling with questions about your worth and the caliber of your work to figuring out if you’re charging what you’re truly worth in your market. Then there’s the constant juggle of ensuring the client experience is top-notch and having the confidence to walk into any scenario knowing your clients will adore the end result. And let’s not forget the endless list of tasks: social media marketing, crafting your brand identity, hunting for perfect locations, curating wardrobes and themes, pouring over editing details… the list goes on.

But here’s the thing: every photographer starting out knows this struggle. We might grumble about it together, but let me tell you, that moment when you hear the click of the shutter and see the reactions, it’s pure magic. All those challenges suddenly seem insignificant in comparison to the joy of capturing those perfect moments.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m all about storytelling—it’s where my heart truly lies. One project that fills me with immense pride is “30 Over 30 – The Worthy Project.” It’s a labor of love where I’m capturing the journeys of 30 individuals over 30, each with a remarkable story to tell. From tales of resilience after surviving domestic violence to the inspiring battles against substance abuse, these stories are raw, real, and incredibly moving. Being entrusted with these narratives is an honor I cherish deeply.

And then there’s “30 Over 30 – UNBREAKABLE,” another initiative close to my heart. Here, I delve into the world of athletes, sharing their struggles with mental health and eating disorders. This hits home for me personally, having faced my own battles with obesity, bullying, and anorexia. It’s a journey—one that’s shaped who I am and fuels my passion for this work.

While I’ve dipped my toes into various photography realms—editorial, couples, fitness, personal branding, and family—I’ve found my niche in family and fitness photography. What sets me apart? It’s not just about snapping pictures; it’s about crafting experiences and connections that resonate long after the shoot is over. Let’s create something unforgettable together.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Definitely have some room for improvement when it comes to sharing my own journey. Many people aren’t aware of why I’m so invested in fitness photography and storytelling. The truth is, my personal history includes battling clinical obesity, enduring bullying across four different schools, and facing anorexia at one point. Photography became my outlet to create platforms where others wouldn’t feel alone in their struggles.

In 2013, I made a solo move to the USA, navigating life independently, studying, and working my way through college until my parents joined me here. Currently, I balance a corporate job during the day with my passion for photography by night. On top of that, I’m pursuing a master’s degree, which means plenty of late nights. And as a full-time caretaker for my father, who’s battling cancer, life is undeniably challenging. But you know what? I embrace it all with enthusiasm because I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead. Life’s an adventure, and I’m ready for whatever comes my way!
