Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Cave.
Hi Shannon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Stemming from a deeply rooted passion and background in training and health, I dedicated several years to designing the perfect wellness approach to achieve my client’s desired results, regardless of age, with an intentional focus on both mental and physical well-being.
As a native Texan, I graduated from Texas Christian University and moved to New York City, working as an actress and dancer. In 2008, I was introduced to dance-based fitness, sparking a new interest that would lead into the next chapter of my career. Simultaneously, I served as a board member of GO Project, a non-profit aiding academically struggling and under-resourced public school students in all five boroughs of the city. When I moved to Denver, Colorado, in 2016, I began to train and study under a previous mentor who had developed practices focused on women’s fitness and supporting them at every stage of their lives. My foundational experience in both New York and Colorado encouraged me to dive deeper into the connection between the benefit of exercise and hormonal changes.
Thus, the concept for C7 Training was born to share my carefully formulated health and wellness methods with her clients to enable them to reclaim the vitality, energy, and confidence they deserve. The concept’s name is based on the seven-spot ladybug, known as C7 or Coccinella Septempunctata, and is inspired by my late friend, Betsy, who continues to watch over her loved ones through the signals of a ladybug.
Now, in Dallas, my appreciation for health, community, and education continues. I am a founder, board member, creative director, entrepreneur, mother and wife. While I wear many hats, my passion for supporting access to education, giving back, and making a positive impact remain vital pillars of everything I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We were scheduled for our soft opening on Jan 17th, and when I arrived at the studio to set up the rebounders for two completely booked classes, we had no power or heat. I had to call every client to cancel and reschedule their classes, and I spent the entire day with contractors, electricians, and HVAC technicians to try and rectify the situation. We rescheduled the opening to Jan 18th and the heat was still not operating 100%. I went to Costco to purchase heaters and opened my doors with two full classes. Everyone has been incredibly supportive, and I am blessed to have people around me that show up. I am not originally from Dallas and have only lived here for a couple of years. My network is small, and we have been relying solely on word of mouth from clients to get the word out. Our method is different and unique, and I think sometimes women might be reluctant to try something out of their comfort zone. I strive to connect with every single client that comes to the studio. I try to reach out and thank them for coming to the studio and encourage them to spread the word. Our 8 AM is the most popular time, and we typically fill that class. We have added additional class options and another amazing, seasoned instructor to allow our method to reach a wider range of women. I work every day to get the word out about our studio.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am passionate about the physical and mental well-being of my clients. C7 Training incorporates movements and techniques that will aid women at every stage of their lives, promoting hormone-friendly practices and a supportive community of women.
The use of the rebounders in each class archives an all-encompassing fitness workout to improve mind, body, and overall health. When used strategically, the rebounded can improve coordination, promote blood and lymphatic circulation, encourage muscle performance, and so much more, all while easier on joints than other forms of cardio. We keep each class small, allowing the instructor to be in tune with each client and help them with proper form.
Every time you come, the workout is different. There is the C7 “recipe” method that is consistent throughout the class, but the music and exercise change daily. I also think something that makes us unique and different is that we give back to charity every quarter to meet our goal of creating a better community.
How do you think about luck?
Luck is a very interesting word. I don’t necessarily believe in Luck per se, but I do believe that every situation, circumstance, and relationship on my journey has shaped me and led me to where I am today. I am a 51-year-old woman who has lived a colorful, imperfect, and incredibly blessed life and opened a small boutique fitness studio in memory of my late childhood best friend. She exemplified warmth and welcome. She made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. She was sunshine in a bottle. You felt better after you spent time with her. I wanted to design a workout that supported women at every stage of their lives and a studio that honored her spirit. I wanted to create a space where you left feeling better than when you walked through the door both mentally and physically. And if Luck has something to do with it, then I am exceedingly grateful for Luck.
