Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaniqua King.
Shaniqua, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Body Language 205 in 2019 as a spin-off from another adult toy company that I worked for as a consultant. That company focused on women empowerment and opened my eyes to the adult toy world and adult entertainment as a whole. But Sex and sex toys are universal, and I knew that was only the doorway to my journey. I moved my business from Birmingham, AL (205) and relocated to DFW in 2021. Branching off into an entirely new place definitely proved to have its struggles, but once I networked and connected with some of the RIGHT people and attended different events and pop-up shops for Vending Opportunities (Shay Trendy, Look At Diss events by KahiaTheValentine & The GlittyLounge by Glitty by Kelly events) it created a lane for me here and the support has been more than appreciated. I knew working for someone else wasn’t a part of my path anymore after being in retail management for 8 years, and if I could work hard for another company, I could do it for myself. The toys and this business just happen to make it fun and more worth my while.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Trying to maintain an Online store hasn’t been smooth at all! (Site reopening Fall of 2024) I still have to be creative in how I sell and market my business (I’m always getting my websites flagged and shut down). It forces you to think outside of the box on so many levels and sometimes that’s frustrating within itself. But I’m always up for a new challenge if it means I can learn from it. Maintaining inventory can be an all-day/night job by itself. There’s always something new being made so you have to do your research and stay on top of the latest toys and news while giving people what they want and providing them with options. Of course, with couple’s toys, experience is the best teacher.

Body Language 205 is an Adult Toy & Exotic Shop where you can find items ranging from Bedroom Accessories, Couples Toys, BDSM items, Restraints, Roleplay toys, Cosplay and Costume wear to Lingerie, Dance Poles, Exotic Wear, and so much more. Body Language 205 is a judgment-free zone where questions about almost anything pertaining to sex life, toys, relationships, your body, embracing yourself, etc., are open for discussion. I’m always open to teaching and helping someone better understand what I do. Some people see a table full of toys and go the other way, and others are drawn to it. I want people to be open to SAFELY exploring themselves and/or their partner(s).
My business stands behind integrity. Whatever questions that you have that I’m able to answer is between my customers and myself. If I can help you better understand or teach you how to use something, I will. And I almost guarantee you’re gonna laugh before the end of the conversation. My Way of Spreading Love
You can always find me brushing up on pole dance skills and tricks, playing in Lingerie and heels, doing photoshoots from time to time, or doing a little cosplaying, making music, just enjoying life while building and doing something I love. I do teach 1 on 1 beginner pole dance classes, and I’m looking to eventually open up a pole dance studio.
What does success mean to you?
Success for me is defined by a feeling of accomplishment or the smile I’m able to put on the faces of those closest to me: family, friends, and even customers. It’s the feeling of satisfaction knowing you put your best self forward and you’re able to see the results of your hard work.
