Today we’d like to introduce you to Ketzel Guajardo.
Hi Ketzel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Ketzel Guajardo, I am a Fort Worth native. I opened up The Aztec Esthetician in May 2023. The main reason I entered the skin care industry was because of my own personal struggle with acne. I had a lack of confidence when I looked in the mirror. I had very limited knowledge in the skincare area, and that led me to see an esthetician. After a few years of treatment, I started to fall in love with the entire experience of receiving a facial and transforming my skin. It started building my confidence again and helped me learn about my own skin. My personal struggle with acne began in my early 20s, which led me to become a certified acne expert with Face Reality in July 2023. Throughout my journey, I expanded my knowledge and understanding of acne. There are millions of people struggling with acne today, and not a lot of resources are available for clients. There is no defined cure for acne, but I have learned ways to minimize its effects. I recently have had success clearing several clients with a customized skin care regimen, including routine visits for treatment and progress. Most of my clients have been able to see results within 90 days. Yay! Seeing my client’s skin transform before my eyes and seeing how happy and relaxed they feel after each treatment is what motivates me to keep going. I currently work full-time, try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and manage my business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This journey has not been a smooth road for me. While in school, they focused more on sanitation and disinfection. I graduated with little knowledge of skin care. This encouraged me to research and learn more about the skin and how to properly care for it. I worked full-time and went to school in the evenings, which led me to learn how to manage my time and take care of myself. I had no knowledge about starting or running a business, and I am currently still learning.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Aztec Esthetician, LLC?
I am a licensed esthetician and certified acne expert. I specialize in customized facials and help acne clients achieve clearer skin. My brand serves everybody, but it comes from Hispanic roots, which is not very represented in the skin care industry.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband Alex is my number 1 supporter. He has helped me throughout my esthetics journey. Alex motivated me when I was struggling in school, opening the business, and he has helped me with business paperwork. Yessy, whom I met last year, is a close business friend of mine. Yessy has helped me with business tips throughout the year; she pushed me when I was at my lowest moments. My best friends Brisela and Sebastian have supported me since the beginning. They helped me as model clients while in school, and now they are formal clients in my business.
