Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Roberts.
Hi Adam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
No problem, thank you for having me. I was a realtor for about 10 years. My family and I moved to Forney two years ago from Las Vegas. We just needed a change, and we loved the area. So, with no friends or family out here, we sold our home and made the move. I was working but wanted to do something different. I bought a 3D printer and wanted to start a side business for extra income. I actually started making cool flowerpots originally. Things evolved, and I made a chain for my son’s baseball team. Other teams noticed it, and I made some for them. Realizing I found my calling making custom swag chains for sports. Within 4 months, I have chains all across the US and 2 countries now.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. I’ve always had a small interest in design, etc. but had little to no experience. I just studied how to do 3D design and learned modeling programs. I have definitely messed up my share of products and redesigned the spinner chains a couple of times. Luckily, I’ve had amazing customers who have offered ideas and suggested new products to make. I would say the hardest part is just figuring out different materials and experimenting. You can’t learn anything without failing sometimes. I have too many little things I printed lying around the house while I was learning. I’m pretty sure my wife trashes some when I am not looking.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about B.A. Chainz?
I have a variety of items I sell and can make. The big one is the team swag chain. I print them as large as I can, usually around 10″, just depending on the logo shape. I have spinners too, which is super fun for the kids. They are about 8″ in circumference and have your logo that spins. Definitely get some Flava Flav vibes going on wearing those, lol. Recently, I have been offering custom ring stands. Championship rings in baseball and sports in general are huge. My son had a bunch of rings he had won, and I had no clue what to do with them. So, I made a stand with posts to display his rings. I can do team logos, player initials, or numbers. Beyond that, it’s whatever you can think of that I can make. I have made bachelor party chains, custom medal displays to mount on the wall, car decals, plus so much more.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Offering good products and amazing customer service. Being in customer service my entire life, I came to realize the #1 aspect of a business is customer service to make it thrive. You can have an amazing product and bad customer service, and the business will fail. I make sure each customer gets the time and effort I would expect from myself when ordering something. I love seeing the videos and the excitement parents get when a kid hits a home run and the team puts their chain on him or her. This is a business, but seeing people get excited over my products is truly a blessing. So far, I have had amazing friends to help support me; customers have been amazing; and my wife and kids have seen my vision and helped me get to that goal.
