Hi Susan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The journey of Semmelmann Interiors over the past five years has been nothing short of extraordinary. From its modest beginnings with no clients in a 10 x 10 warehouse space with concrete floors and just a handful of employees to its current status as a thriving business with multiple locations inclusive of our receiving warehouse, manufacturing facility, and 10,000 square foot showroom, the growth and evolution of our company have been remarkable. With faith as our guiding principle, an overcomer mentality we are building something truly special.
Our team’s unwavering dedication and hard work have been instrumental in our success. Today, we carry 100’s of lines of interior furnishings and decor, allowing us to offer a diverse range of interior design solutions to our clients. Each step of this journey has been fueled by our commitment to excellence and our desire to exceed customer expectations.
Now, as we embark on the next phase of our journey, we are excited to announce the development of our very own SSI Exclusive line. This line will encompass a wide range of products, including furnishings, fabrics, lighting, art, and rugs. By designing and manufacturing many of these items, we aim to provide our customers with truly unique and innovative options for their interior design needs.
Already, we have experience in creating elaborate designs, such as beds, bedding, drapery, ottomans, benches, and more. With the launch of our SSI Exclusive line, we are eager to expand our offerings even further and continue to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation in the world of interior design. We are inventing the future of design possibilities!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Navigating the challenges and obstacles that come with rapid growth in a business is indeed a significant aspect of its journey. At Semmelmann Interiors, we view these growing pains not as failures but as opportunities for learning and improvement.
One of the primary challenges we’ve faced is scaling our operations effectively to keep pace with increasing demand. As the number of employees and locations has grown, so too has the complexity of managing day-to-day operations. From logistics and inventory management to ensuring consistent quality across all aspects of our business, each new milestone has brought its own set of challenges.
Another obstacle we’ve encountered is maintaining our company culture and values amidst rapid expansion. As we’ve grown, it’s been essential to ensure that our core principles, such as faith and dedication to excellence, remain at the forefront of everything we do. This requires clear communication, ongoing training, and a commitment from every member of our team to uphold our shared values.
Additionally, rapid growth can strain financial resources as we have put every dollar back into the company. Investing in new locations, expanding product lines, and hiring additional staff all require capital, and managing cash flow effectively becomes crucial. Semmelmann Interiors grew over 151 percent in 2023, along with doubling the size of employees.
Despite these obstacles, we firmly believe that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and improvement. By viewing these growing pains as opportunities rather than failures, we’ve been able to approach them with optimism and creativity. Each obstacle we overcome strengthens our resolve and prepares us for future success.

From inception, I was Susan Semmelmann Interiors. I had no idea when I launched my own brand what the future would hold. If I had one or two jobs, that would be great as I wanted to design and be innovative in my creativity. After a few months of rapid growth, it became apparent that it was bigger than me and that God had a plan. We have since changed the name to Semmelmann Interiors, as we have 12 designers on our team and service over 100 projects a year. We service not only the Dallas Fort Worth market but expanding to homes all over the United States.
We are known for inventing the future and pioneering creative, innovative design with a remarkable reputation for Semmelmann Interiors to have earned and continue to earn. We always believe that we never want to arrive; we want to always keep future forward thinking with Susan Semmelmann’s visionary approach and forward-thinking mindset of our team.
