Today we’d like to introduce you to LANEshia Fentress. They and their team shared their story with us below:
LANEshia is a highly respected and in-demand vocalist in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area of Texas. As a performer, she has collaborated with a multitude of artists in a wide range of genres. Those artists included GRAMMY Award-winner hip hop and R&B producer Madukwu Chinwah (Erykah Badu, N’Dambi, Common), Dallas smooth jazz saxophonist Paul Rogers, and rising Texas Country singer-songwriter Ray Johnston (formerly of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team). As a songwriter, she has credits with contemporary gospel legend Fred Hammond on his album Life in the Word, co-writing the song “Need My Time With You.”
In October 2021, LANEshia released her debut solo album, The Journey, on which she served as primary artist and composer. The album features performances by Allen Cato (Meshell Ndegeocello), Mark Lettieri (Snarky Puppy), Bobby Sparks (Kirk Franklin, Marcus Miller), Keith Anderson (Prince, Lucky Peterson), and her father, noted bassist Chuck Smith (Joe McBride, Kirk Whalum).
In March 2023, LANEshia along with Manny Cruz, released their first single together, Hey You! This newfound partnership is a collaborative creative collision that introduced LANEshia to a new sound. Manny and LANEshia released their debut album, “The Manny X LANE Show, Vol. 1, on May 11th, 2023. In addition to her roles as artist and vocalist, she serves as CEO and co-producer at The Fentress Music Group, a full-service music production company led in tandem with her husband, percussionist and producer/engineer Darius Fentress (Tyler Perry, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams).
LANEshia is a podcast personality and host… She is also a voting member for The Recording Academy.
Not only is LANEshia a consummate artist, she has acted as a mentor for many young musicians in the D/FW area, connecting numerous players together for performances, recording sessions, and tours.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a fun road mostly. There has been turbulence on this journey. The only struggle has been a minor misunderstanding along the way. I’m thankful for love that covers these things!

I am a singer/songwriter, podcast personality media event host, speaker and voiceover artist. I’m also a brand ambassador for several brands, and I specialize in curating meaningful experiences for people.
