Daily Inspiration: Meet Vee Mechelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vee Mechelle.

Vee Mechelle

Hi Vee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sixteen years ago, I started out in Dallas, Texas, hustling to style fashion shows for free. My mom always instilled a love of fashion in me, and I knew this was the industry I wanted to be in. Landing my first big client was a game-changer. It boosted my confidence and solidified my path as a Fashion Stylist. Sure, there were mistakes along the way, but those were valuable lessons that helped me grow and become better.

Fast forward to today, my business is thriving! I was accepted into the Forbes Black Community, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work with amazing productions and clients, including Tyler Perry and the fabulous Mignon/Danni from the hit TV show “Sistas.” But wait, there’s more! I’m also part of the cast for Season 2 of TLC’s “Extreme Sisters.” This show is absolutely INSANE, and it’s just the beginning! Get ready, because Vee Mechelle WILL BE A Household Name! Just Watch!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am now hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. There were tons of struggles along the way, and I definitely made some mistakes. Like working with people who never paid me or taking jobs without a signed contract – those are just a few examples. But hey, that’s all part of the learning curve, right? It taught me a valuable lesson: I gotta know my worth and protect my brand as a fashion stylist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a fashion stylist and TV personality, I’ve carved a niche for myself thanks to my endless creativity. What I’m most proud of is the journey I’ve taken in this industry – the growth, the challenges, and everything in between. But let’s be honest, my larger-than-life personality is infectious and kind of a big deal too! It’s what sets me apart from the crowd.

I also believe in giving back. That’s why I love to mentor aspiring stylists who are just starting out and feeling lost. We’ve all been there, right? There are no gatekeepers here – if I see someone with genuine passion and hustle, I’m happy to offer free mentorship. After all, we all have to start somewhere!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
In this fashion world, trends come and go, but for me, the secret ingredient to my success has always been understanding people. It’s not just about having an eye for what’s hot on the runway; it’s about seeing the person beneath the clothes and using fashion to amplify their inner light. Whether it’s a client on my show or a celebrity, I’m dressing for a red-carpet event, building a connection and truly listening to their needs is key. When you can translate their personality and goals into a killer outfit, that’s when the magic happens – and that confident smile on their face tells the whole story! Sure, staying on top of trends is important, but it’s the ability to connect and translate that into a personalized style that makes all the difference.
