Today we’d like to introduce you to Nora Lints.
Hi Nora, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My parents came from Mexico with dreams of starting a family and living the American dream. After years of financial struggles, they each established their own businesses: my father became a CPA and Tax Preparer, and my mother opened a hair salon. During my teenage years, I was immersed in their entrepreneurial spirit, learning to prepare taxes, style hair, and, most importantly, run a business. I have vivid memories of my dad teaching us to give back to our community and those in need by taking us to the Houston Food Bank to distribute turkeys for Thanksgiving and help load trucks with food and clothes for countries affected by natural disasters. This compassion for others led me to initially pursue a career as a Radiologic Technologist in the Cardiac Cath Lab, where I had the honor of assisting in saving people from major heart attacks. This profoundly rewarding experience paved the way for a decade-long career in medical device sales for cardiology and vascular surgery. Every career comes with sacrifices, and I, like many, made significant ones to prove my worth as a minority woman in America. For years, I dedicated my life to my career in exchange for a paycheck and a lifestyle, believing it validated my success. But when my pregnancy faced severe complications and my health declined, the company that once claimed we were “family” cast me aside.
Pregnant at 36, I was hospitalized after being diagnosed with severe gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. Not only did our baby boy arrive in early 2020, just as the world was shutting down, but he was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect requiring open-heart surgery. Just two weeks after this heartbreaking diagnosis, my father was nearly killed in a head-on collision caused by a drunk driver. The driver died instantly, and my dad shattered almost every bone in his body, and due to the pandemic shutdown he endured months of multiple surgeries and rehab, alone. He ultimately lost both legs, but miraculously, he survived.
My background in cardiology empowered me to advocate for my son’s heart condition. Dissatisfied with the local pediatric cardiologists’ care plan, I sought help from other moms through the power of social media and discovered Dr. Christopher Knott-Craig, an incredibly exceptional cardio-thoracic surgeon at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. At just five months old, my son underwent successful open-heart surgery. The saying “Having a child is like watching your heart walk around outside of your body” resonates deeply with me. Watching our child endure pain was a gut-wrenching experience. Thanks to LeBonheur and The FedEx Family House, we were provided with food and accommodations during our week-long stay in Memphis, which was a tremendous relief. Now, to pay it forward, every year on our son’s surgery anniversary, we donate to The FedEx Family House to help support other families with sick children. I also have a direct link to donate on my website for those that would like to contribute as well.
When my medical leave ended and it came time to return to work, I couldn’t. The way I was treated during my pregnancy complications left me disillusioned, and my perspective on life had shifted tremendously. Having survived such trauma, I realized that I deserved to be happy and to enjoy my work every day! Despite the financial anxiety of living on one income, I chose to leave my job and embark on a new career path. I have always found so much joy in helping others feel beautiful. Since grade school, I have always been my friends and family Go-To person when it comes to makeup and beauty. As an X-ray student, I was fascinated to watch live plastic surgeries and became passionate about skincare and medical aesthetics. The aesthetics world has always been my happy place, and I am incredibly fortunate to be able to pursue my true passion and dedicate my life to helping others feel good in their own skin.
Fast forward four years, our son is thriving, my dad is walking again with the help of prosthetics, and with the unwavering support of my wonderful husband and family, I opened Skin Corrective Aesthetics in November 2023. Within the first couple of months of being open, I’ve had Hydrafacial Gift Certificates given out in the 2024 Oscars Celebrity Gifting Suite in Los Angeles and I have partnered with new mentors, local businesses, celebrities, and influencers to help launch my brand and services! I have hit the ground running and this journey has been nothing less than incredible! I am filled with gratitude and excitement for what the future holds for Skin Corrective Aesthetics!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Skin Corrective Aesthetics, our mission extends beyond skincare; it’s about fostering a community of inclusivity, education, and unwavering support. I am committed to providing an understanding of skincare fundamentals, ensuring that our diverse community, comprising individuals of all ages, genders, and skin types, finds a welcoming haven at Skin Corrective Aesthetics. This dedication reflects my genuine concern for my clients’ results, overall well-being, and confidence, both during your visit and through our meticulous at-home and post-care instructions. I want readers to know that I am an MD-supervised Licensed Esthetician who specializes in corrective Anti-Aging and Acne skin treatments. I offer an elegant environment with a luxurious spa experience at an affordable price. My services include Hydrafacial, RF Skin Tightening Facials, Body Acne treatments, Adult and Teen Acne programs, Anti-aging collagen induction therapy such as SkinPen Microneedling, a broad range of Chemical Peels, Scalp Care for hair loss, Pregnancy, and Breastfeeding-Safe treatments and products, and LED Light Therapy for both men and women. I also use and sell medical-grade skin care products such as ZO Skin Health, EPICUTIS, Face Reality, BioSkin Aesthetics, and Colorescience.
My medical experience sets me apart from other estheticians because I am obsessed with reading findings from physician-led clinical studies on product lines, active ingredients, and aesthetic device technology. I understand how product treatments and medical devices work on a cellular level, and that translates to how I educate my clients on how to take care of their skin in the most effective and economical way. I want my clients to feel safe under my care and know that what I recommend will always be backed by scientific evidence and clinical outcomes. I am always available to answer all of their questions and help guide them through all phases of their new skincare journey.
I’m really excited to announce that I have created my own Skincare line called INNERLUME BEAUTY that offers a one-of-a-kind Dermaplanning Oil made up of only 3 natural ingredients, that is free from essential oil or fragrances and non-comedogenic, making it safe for those with oily or the most sensitive skin. This non-greasy oil was originally created as a solution for my need as an esthetician for an oil that was not irritating, did not clog pores, or was filled with silicones, essential oils, and fragrance. Estheticians everywhere can safely use Radiant Skin Dermaplaning Oil on their clients with mature, oily, and sensitive skin. This oil is so great for your skin that I had to make it available for sale to the public for those who like to dermaplane or massage their face at home. This oil can also be used on the face and body without the need to be washed off. Ingredient benefits include antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. It smooths and softens the texture of skin, creates a natural, protective barrier, reduces water loss, and increases moisture without clogging pores. I have received incredibly positive feedback from clients, friends, and other estheticians all saying how they love INNERLUME BEAUTY’S Radiant Skin Dermaplaning Oil!
The two kits available for purchase are The Take-Home Kit is $38 and includes a 1 fl oz bottle of Radiant Skin and 4 blades and The Professional Kit is $149 and includes the 1 oz bottle, an 8 oz refill bottle, a professional stainless steel dermaplane tool, a box of blades, and blade remover tool.
It’s never too late to follow your dreams, it’s scary as hell, but as I tell my kids, “You can do hard things!” I hope my story inspires others to work towards their passions and use life’s obstacles as fuel to propel them towards achieving their dreams!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I always get a crazy reaction when I tell people that I am turning 40 this year and have worked in the medical field for 15 years before pursuing a career in aesthetics. Everyone thinks I am way younger than I really am, but I have done it and seen it all when it comes to anti-aging, corrective, and preventative skin care and treatments, so I am a great resource for those serious about improving their skin health. My moto is “Pre-juvination- Preventative is less expensive than corrective!” Want to know my best skin care tip? Wear sunscreen daily- and reapply throughout the day! It’s the most effective and least expensive anti-aging product you can use! Don’t forget to apply it on the back of your hands, too!
