Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Aday. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Music found Carson unexpectedly at the age of 16 when his father stumbled upon a keyboard on Facebook Marketplace. Little did they know this chance encounter would set Carson on a path of musical discovery. With an innate ability to play songs by ear, Carson quickly immersed himself in music, eventually competing internationally for classical piano within six months of picking up the instrument.
However, it was Carson’s journey into songwriting and performing that truly ignited his passion for music. Inspired by the likes of Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes, Carson taught himself to play guitar, drums, and bass, laying the foundation for his unique sound. His musical influences range from the timeless classics of Michael Jackson and the Beatles to the contemporary rock vibes of The Strokes and Red-Hot Chili Peppers.
Carson’s journey into the music industry was marked by determination and DIY spirit. Recording his own demos and leveraging social media platforms like Instagram, he made his mark, catching the attention of fans and industry insiders alike. Despite not having the opportunity to collaborate with his musical idols, Carson’s relentless pursuit of his craft has garnered him recognition, performing alongside notable acts like The Brazen Youth, Hall Johnson, and Northlake.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting out as a classical pianist, I very quickly was thrown into the deep end of competition. 6 months after touching a piano for the first time, I was traveling for international competitions.
I had a lot of people berate me and act really harshly towards me because they feel I didn’t deserved to be there because of my lack of experience. It was really hard to continually put in 8+ hours of daily practice while facing criticism.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for crafting melodies that resonate with beauty and pain. I delved into classical piano quickly, however, it was my passion for songwriting and performing that truly ignited my artistic drive.
My music is deeply personal, drawing from my own experiences and emotions, as well as hypothetical scenarios that resonate with listeners. I specialize in crafting poignant lyrics that touch the soul, accompanied by melodies that linger long after the song ends.
I take pride in my DIY approach to the music industry. I have learned from mentors along the way, and had a chance to record with some remarkable professionals. I enjoy recording my own demos and leveraging social media to connect with fans and industry insiders. I’ve performed alongside notable acts and graced the stages of renowned venues. What I’m most proud of is staying true to my authentic self and creating music that speaks to the heart.
What sets me apart is my ability to infuse raw authenticity into my music, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in my world. That and I’m told that my live performance is my true gifting, connecting with the fans and leaving my heart on the stage
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Within the Music Industry, I’ve found the only way to truly get to where I want to go is to be bold and confident. Either in booking my own shows across the country and putting my art in the face of strangers or dedicating my time to improving my craft.
I’ve put myself in a career path that is defined by doing what people would consider to be a risk. For me, having faith in my craft and believing I can overcome any obstacle is the most important part. I know I will continue to find myself in situations where there is risks/rewards on the line and that faith and confidence is what drives me to the finish line.
