Today, we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin McDougall . Benjamin was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Janae Matute.
Hi Benjamin , we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up visually impaired was a huge inconvenience. However that didn’t prevent me from witnessing and occasionally being subject to discrimination and bullying. Thankfully my mother did not raise me a coward, she taught me to fight for what is right and stick up for myself. After years of butt kickings and life lessons, I got to meet Janae. It didn’t take long for me to see that we shared a lot of similar views and values. I was inspired by what she was doing in order to reach her goals, so I decided to become a part of the team and join in on her journey.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
Currently, I am working as a Virtual Assistant. I love helping people and adding value to their lives. Honesty is my policy and I approached everything with a can do attitude, whatever I don’t know, I am more than willing to learn if it will bring value. Although I’m new to it, I enjoy most aspects in this line of work. I feel happiest when I’m editing videos, it feels so good when my creative juices are flowing and I can zone in and come up with something amazing.
Janae Matute has been a great friend to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Janae and your experience with them.
Janae Matute is a lot of things, Painter, Clothing Designer, Model and more importantly, she’s an advocate for people who are differently abled. I officially met Janae a little over a year ago, she was looking for a Sales Representative to help her out in Belize after she left for Dallas. My sister recommended me to her, Janae reached out to me and that was it. After getting to know her and hearing her goals to inspire, push inclusion and improve the quality of life for the differently abled people in our community, I was moved and decided I would assist her in any way I could. It’s been a blessing so far. I must say, Janae is very patient and understanding, she’s always pushing me to my limit and encouraging me to do better. One thing I have learnt from Janae is to always be authentic. She is never afraid to express how she feels whether with words or through her art. Janae has always been true to herself. Janae is someone easy to admire, she doesn’t make excuses or complains, even having Cerebral Palsy she wakes up everyday ready to take on the world and do whatever she needs to do to meet her goals.
