Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Zamora.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Posival started in 2013, the year after I graduated high school. In 2016, there was a 2-year hiatus in the band, and in 2019, we released our first official self-titled album on Barf Wave Records and were also nominated for best punk band by The Dallas Observer upon the release of that album.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many challenges in the band throughout its history, but most reveal the challenges have been more external rather than anything internal. There are plenty of situations that have been completely out of our control as a band, which has made things pretty interesting.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I play guitar and sing in a punk band called Posival. There are many things I am proud of in this project, but I think the most important thing I’m proud of is my development as a person throughout doing this. On tour, our guitar player Jordan and I were talking about the band, and I think being in this band has made me much more resilient as a personal when handling stress and unforeseen circumstances. I’m very thankful for Clint and the rest of the band for being able to take this journey together.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m an avid reader, mainly nonfiction since I love learning new things, so my favorite books are: Man And His Symbols by Carl Jung, Fast And Slow Thinking by Daniel Kahneman, Rubicon by Tom Holland, The Fiery Trial by Eric Fonner, Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, and Grapes Of Wrath by John Steinbeck
