Community Highlights: Meet Alex Heinrikson of Hair by Alex Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Heinrikson.

Alex Heinrikson

Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My family and I moved to Texas in 2019. I worked at a salon in the Alliance area until the pandemic hit. After opening back up a lot of us were let go. I took the plunge and moved to Tribe Salon as a booth renter, where I was able to really get my footing here in Texas. I took a lot of continuing education and decided to specialize in living in color and hand-tied extensions. I took two certifications and things were going smoothly until Tribe suddenly and unexpectedly closed this past October. I was pregnant, which posed an additional hurdle. I was able to get into a private suite two weeks later inside Mattison Avenue Salon Suites which is where I am today! I live with my partner and our two sons, as well as three Presa Canario dogs, Modena show pigeons, saltwater fish, some rabbits, and hopefully soon some chickens as well! We JUST welcomed our second child at the beginning of April, actually, so we are a new family of four, which is exciting!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is it ever for anyone? Between moving to Texas and having to completely start my career over, the pandemic, and a salon suddenly closing and being displaced for two weeks with full books and nowhere to take clients until I was able to open a suite of my own (thankfully a friend let me share her space with her for those two weeks!) It’s definitely not been the easiest. But what can you do? You accept, you pivot, you adapt, and move on. Life is full of challenges you just have to work with them. When one door closes, another opens, you just have to look. The newest challenge will be figuring out work and life as a new mom of two as opposed to just one!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am inside a private suite at Mattison Avenue Salon Suites (by Central Market in Fort Worth). I specialize in lived-in color and hand-tied extensions. I truly strive to give my clients not only great hair but an incredible experience as well.

I keep snacks and drinks, including espresso, for those who wish to indulge. I’m happy to make sure I have something special for my guests upon request, also.

I carry Kevin Murphy and Iles formula products because I truly feel they are the best, especially Iles formula for my extension guests! I have a variety of treatments available, and every guest receives hot towels with their shampoo as well as a head massage.

The investment into extensions with me is something I take very seriously. I do a hidden bead method of hand-tied extensions, and everything is customized to the client, from the placement to the bead sections, custom coloring to the extensions, etc. The initial investment with me includes high-quality, ethically sourced human remy hair, custom coloring to the extension hair, the installation, cut to blend, style, and a complimentary take-home care kit. I really like to educate my guests on how life with extensions will be, how to care for them best and set them up for success! So far, even my guests who have worn other popular methods have raved about how comfortable their installs with me are!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I tell everyone that as someone from the Chicago area I’ve had a really hard time finding incredible food here-especially Italian! So, if you have recommendations, I’m all ears haha! But truly, I like Fort Worth much more than I anticipated!
