Hi Carmen, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Four years ago, I decided to quit my job of over 17 years in retail management to start my own business. I knew that with my talent and the passion I had for baking and cooking, nothing would ever satisfy me until I started doing what I loved. I made the ultimate decision that it was time for me to stop clocking in and out of someone else’s schedule and no longer answer to someone else’s bottom line. I wanted to create my own success and build my dreams. It was a huge leap of faith, but by taking that risk, it has led to greater success and freedom than I ever could have imagined.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not always been smooth. I must admit that my second year was the hardest; I struggled to maintain consistent revenue, trying not to rob Peter to pay Paul to pay my bills. But I refused to give up, giving up is a non-negotiable for me. So, I stayed focused on my mission and kept taking one step after another towards building my business, no matter the position or situation.
We’ve been impressed with Cooking With Carmen LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Cooking With Carmen LLC in 2020 with the goal of bringing my love of food and cooking directly into people’s homes. As a personal chef, cooking instructor, and caterer. I craft customized menus using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to create unforgettable culinary experiences for my clients. Whether it’s a romantic dinner for two or a large celebratory gathering, I work closely with each client to bring their unique vision to life.
Beyond my skills in the kitchen, I believe my warm, engaging personality allows me to connect with clients and guests on a personal level. Many clients like to consider me as family after I’ve cooked for their events. My ability to make people feel comfortable, create memorable moments, and be truly happy with my food is what sets me apart.
Cooking With Carmen LLC has steadily grown over the years through word-of-mouth referrals. I take pride in maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, quality, and service as the business expands. I’m thrilled to be doing what I love – crafting delicious food that brings people together.
CWC offers a variety of services to share my personal love of cooking. From teaching a wide range of cooking classes covering everything from knife skills to specific cuisines. Intimate dinner parties to corporate events and weddings. While offering personal chef services for individuals, families, or groups who want restaurant-quality meals without the hassle.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see Cooking With Carmen LLC experiencing significant business growth and becoming a household name. Entering the consumer-packaged goods space, developing strategic partnerships while planning to increasingly focus on giving back to the community through charity work, donations, and teaching.
