Hidden Gems: Meet Robyn Radusky of Poppy and Prince Children’s Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Radusky

Hi Robyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After the birth of my son 4 years ago, I fell in love with the world of children’s clothing- it was even more fun than shopping for myself! Retail and fashion were not new to me. I started my career as an Assistant Buyer for Neiman Marcus here in Dallas, and later moved to NYC to work for Lafayette 148, Theory and Helmut Lang. As a new mom in NYC, I had every clothing designer at my fingertips, but still I struggled to find unique and beautiful clothing for my son. So I began to explore and research, and eventually discovered the whimsical world of European children’s clothing- these brands are not readily available in the US, and definitely nowhere to be found in Dallas.

Three years ago, we moved to Dallas and my daughter was born. The struggle to find that “wow” piece for my children continued. There are many wonderful children’s stores here, but none of them captured the fun, yet charming and beautiful aesthetic that I had come to love from the European collections. In March of 2023, Poppy and Prince was born! My store is named after my daughter Poppy and my son Oliver (my Prince). I find myself searching far and wide for unique clothing that kids love to wear and feel good wearing, and I am so excited to share it with Dallas!

You can find Poppy and Prince online at poppyandprince.com, Instagram @poppyandprince and at pop ups around Dallas! I love to host intimate pop ups and have also had the opportunity to bring my shop to many amazing businesses around the city! This has been a great way to meet new customers and engage with them and learn about their needs for their kids’ wardrobes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think along with the launch of a new business, there are always challenges. I am lucky to love what I do and have enjoyed every second of my business thus far. The main challenge of my new business is simply getting the word out! I have met the most amazing customers and have begun to nurture a relationship with them and their families and I am excited to continue this trend as Poppy and Prince grows!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My boutique Poppy and Prince brings the best of children’s clothing from around the world to Dallas! We carry sizes newborn to 6 years old for boys and girls and offer everything from casual everyday outfits to swimwear and special occasion dresses. I am proud to feature many brands are new to the United States market, and making their Dallas debut at Poppy and Prince! I work hard to select brands that are made from high quality fabrics, many of which are organic and ethically produced. They feature beautiful fabrics, classic silhouettes and exude an overall sense of fun for kids – my ultimate goal is for your kids to love wearing their clothes!

It’s hard to pick a favorite brand, but this spring season I am loving Louis Louise from Paris. Their collection is Parisian chic full of florals, shimmery fabrics, lightweight dresses and even rompers and shirts for boys! This collection will transport you the streets of Paris- just add a croissant! I am also excited to bring the Belgian brand Morley to Dallas! Their collection is designed for boys and girls starting at size 2 years and offers the most gorgeous dresses for girls and amazing separates for boys! The older boys love their knit polos and elastic waist shorts because they are so soft and comfortable- and mom likes it because they are well dressed. It’s a win-win!

In addition to the online store and pop up boutiques, I offer private shopping appointments, layette, gift registry and always complimentary giftwrap. I love private shopping appointments where I bring the collections to you! You simply tell me who you are shopping for and I will curate the perfect selection in your home. It makes the shopping experience easy and sometimes less overwhelming for the kids and mom or grandma! I also love helping new moms build a layette- we have everything from onesies to bibs, hooded towels and special occasion outfits- everything you need for baby’s first year! You can also build a custom gift registry on my website to share with friends and family!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Children’s clothing tells a story. Each brand has its own unique personality that transports you to the part of the world where it is designed. After the pandemic, people have reignited their love for travel. Stores like Poppy and Prince will continue to discover new and rising brands from around the world that can bring that global experience without needing a passport. I think as parents realize there is a new world of clothing out there, they crave more! I hope that as Poppy and Prince continues to grow, I can bring more of these collections to my boutique!
