Inspiring Conversations with Alycia Medina of AM Virtual Services or AMVS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alycia Medina.

Hi Alycia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
After being laid off on the last day of my maternity leave, along with most of the corporate team, I found myself facing uncertainty while adjusting to life with my newborn. He had just spent six weeks in the NICU, and I received the blow shortly after bringing him home. Despite the initial shock, I embraced the opportunity to focus on my family for the next 13 months as a stay-at-home mom. However, my passion for work and desire to contribute led me to seek a solution that would allow me to balance both worlds. That’s when I stumbled upon a TikTok creator’s video who had successfully built her own virtual assistant company. Recognizing the potential to leverage my skills and experience, I wasted no time in taking the leap to start my own venture. I filed my LLC registration documents, setting the wheels in motion for my journey as an entrepreneur.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t always been smooth. In the initial 3.5 months, I dedicated myself to marketing AMVS on social media and landing that first client. Each day was a struggle, filled with frustration and uncertainty. It was undeniably the toughest phase of my business journey. To signing that first client, I had to think outside the box and rely on my network for support.

Additionally, setting up the backend of my business using free programs and tools presented another hurdle. With just a $325 initial investment to start my business, a significant portion of which went towards the LLC filing, I had to be extremely frugal and resourceful. However, despite these challenges, I persevered and demonstrated that it’s possible to overcome adversity in starting your business.

Once I secured my first three clients, the road ahead became smoother. This success was a testament to the groundwork I laid during those initial 3.5 months, focusing on building the administrative and operational aspects of my business. It taught me the importance of a strong foundation and paved the way for a more seamless experience for my customers.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
AMVS is a virtual assistant company. I take over administrative and operational responsibilities from business owners and entrepreneurs. I bring my 11 years of corporate experience at a full-scale real estate investment firm and a national coworking company with me. The responsibilities I had in those roles served me with vast knowledge and understanding. That, coupled with my tenacity, enablement, and discernment, makes me confident in my ability to help my clients scale their business.

What sets us apart is our commitment to customization – AMVS offers flexible services to meet each client’s unique needs, whether it’s one hour per week or more extensive support. I pride myself on reliability, efficiency, and personalized service, aiming to hand my clients reliable deliverables by getting stuff DONE!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
For me, VA work is far more than just my job. I find it fulfilling to be part of someone else’s journey & I genuinely root for my clients & their success. I am beyond blessed to do what I enjoy while serving my community and family.
